Happy Friday, friends. Today we’re introducing you to the lovely Angie Greurs – founder of one of our fave footwear companies Forever Soles. Ultimately, a failed search for shoes she adored when planning her own wedding led Angie to where she is now – crafting the most gorg and comfy footwear for weddings and beyond from her studio in NSW’s East Ballina, which brides rave about!  We sat down for a chat with Angie, which first featured in Issue 34, and the wonderful Nina Claire came along to take some beautiful snaps. We’re stoked to share it with you here now…

Bridal shoes! Talk to us about what got you started in the biz? When I was planning my wedding over 12 years ago, I couldn’t find any wedding shoes that I really loved. There was nothing out there that suited my personal style and made me feel like me. So, I designed my own! When my husband and I got back from our honeymoon, we came up with an idea over a glass of wine that I could design bridal shoes that didn’t follow the traditional formula of uncomfortable satin stilettos.

What inspires your design? My Faithful collection, for example, was inspired by the brides who buy my shoes. I listened to everything my customers wanted to see in my designs and went from there. Each design had a signature style which allowed me to attribute specific bridal styles to each shoe. I was inspired by classic, bohemian, romantic, summer, winter and statement looks. It was really fun to envision the whole wedding day outfit and the bride behind each look!

You are passionate about keeping your footprint to a minimum. Tell us more. In an effort to minimise our waste, I carefully organise my production orders around in-demand style and I make sure we are not over-ordering styles that aren’t needed. At Forever Soles, all of our packaging is sustainable, and our office setup is run by solar power to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible.

Aside from shoes, what else does FS offer? We began by selling barefoot sandals and anklets for beach brides, so they will always have a space in the collection alongside our bridal shoes.

What’s the standard feedback from brides who have worn FS on their big day? The thing I’ve heard most from Forever Soles brides is that they spent the whole evening of their wedding dancing the night away without having to change into flat shoes.

What is the price range of your shoes? From $150 to $380.

Where can our readers find your lovely pieces? Our shoes are exclusively available online at our website.
