We’ve been working our bums off these past few months putting together our sixth annual Real Wedding Special! All 250 pages of this very special edition (which features nothing but cover to cover never-before-seen-online real weddings and over 750 local vendors) hit the newsstands nationally on Thursday (Feb 6). So, of course, we flew to Melbourne to celebrate with an oh-so-fancy formal sit-down lunch with forty of our fave businesswomen.

Kim (the Creative Director behind Melbourne event planning and styling outfit Nudo Events) pulled together the most MAGNIFICENT event for us. Seriously guys, if you’re currently planning a wedding in Melbourne, you need Nudo Events (and the lovely Kim) in your life. These guys offer complete wedding packages (we’re talking a wedding planner, photographer, florist, stylist and celebrant as well as the cake, invitations, DJ and favours etc) for under 15k!

We couldn’t be more chuffed with how the launch of our sixth annual Real Wedding Special went down. Hosted at Nudo’s very own venue, the industrial but oh-so-chic venue, The Wool Mill in Brunswick East, guests were greeted by epic floral installations by Pomp & Splendour (who have studios in Byron Bay and Melbourne FYI) and cocktails and canapés from Katie and her team of superheroes (aka Fourside Catering) before the sweet sounds of Heartbreak Booths new DJ service lured them downstairs for our long table reveal.

Now let’s take a minute to talk about this table. Kim hired furniture from the good folk of Place Settings and linen from Simmons Linen Hire and tied it all together with more blooms from Pomp & Splendour as well as fortune cookie favours from our new mate MJ at Torte By Mirjana and menus, coasters and place-cards from Terrace Press (one of our fave letterpress printers in Sydney who also designed our gorgeous invitations).

Guests enjoyed some serious photo booth fun from Heartbreak Booth in-between three delicious courses from Fourside Catering (the lamb, oh my gosh! The lamb was so good guys!). A cheeky neon sign from Good Day Club rounded out the day.

It was so lovely to catch up with the many incredible designers and photographers who have contributed regularly to Hello May for the better part of the decade, as well as make new friends in everyone who helped pull this incredible event together.

We were chuffed to send our guests home with the goodie bag to end all goodie bags, which, of course, included a copy of our sixth annual Real Wedding Special wrapped snuggly in an olive linen tote from Sophie Store (our go-to for affordable gifts). A gold bracelet from Krystle Knight Jewellery (your one-stop shop for amazing bridesmaids gifts and accessories), mini cocktail favours from Three Foxes Distillery, a candle from Damselfly (another fab bridesmaids gift) and chocolates from Loco Love rounded out the goodie bags.

We wouldn’t be sharing any of these gorgeous details with you if it wasn’t for the epic captures by Elsa Campbell Photography. This woman is legit one of our all-time fave humans. She’s so bloody lovely, takes the most beautiful wedding photos (check out her work here, here and here) and is just a joy to have along at any event.
