From the get-go, Alex (a midwife) and Pat (a vet) bonded over their professional passions: “We spent our first date comparing horse vs. human speculums! Next minute, Pat let me come along to help with a puppy caesarean!” Three years on, the pair can be found touring rural Oz in their trusty ‘Troopy’, embracing endless adventures together. Talk about a real-life rom-com!

Alex and Pat opted for a serene sunrise Snowy Mountain elopement surrounded by nature. Cool as cucumbers, the couple scouted their ceremony location with less than 24 hours to go – in the rain, no less! Dominic Kieler was behind the camera collecting these angelic shots, and we re-lived the magic with the new Mr and Mrs. It’s all below, folks!

THE VIBE “On a misty hike on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, we came across a couple who was eloping in the most incredible landscape. We thought we had the whole mountain to ourselves, and so did they! It was a moment we’d never forget, and we wanted to find a way to bring this inspiration home to an Aussie bush landscape.”

FAVE DETAILS “Pat’s sister Cate (Sweet Asylum) arranged the bouquet and buttonhole. We were hoping for native flowers that looked like they belonged in the Kosciuszko National Park, and with no reference photos to go off, she absolutely nailed it! The flowers were perfect, and we couldn’t be happier. Cate is such a talented florist, and it meant so much personally to have Cate’s style of floristry as a focus point.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “We drove up into the mountains in the darkness and fog, and we were worried that the cloud cover would not clear enough for sunrise. As we walked from the car to the ceremony site, the sun poked over the mountains, above the fog, and we experienced one of, if not the best, sunrise we had ever seen!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Knew who we were and what was important to us as a couple. We are so proud that we were true to ourselves, kept it simple, stress-free and left space for spontaneity and special moments together.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We are so grateful for Dom, who is an incredible wedding photographer and equally, a great friend to us. Dom was my neighbour throughout the pandemic so we became like family, and I was privileged to be their midwife for the birth of two of their daughters. Safe to say, Dom made us feel relaxed, comfortable, and he was always super flexible. We’re blown away every day by Dom’s skill and talent. We feel incredibly lucky to have such beautiful images to remember the morning we became husband and wife.”
