Amy and Alban recently tied the knot in the Byron Bay hinterland after spending a little over a year engaged and planning their dream wedding. So many of our fave vendors contributed to making this day a reality. Creative humans like neon sign legends Sammy & Lola , our gold cutlery go-to’s Gold Wedding Hire, wedding singers Jake & Andy and celebrant Cara from Modern Love Ceremonies. Thank goodness one of our fave photographers (hey there Stories by Ash) and cinematographers (G’Day Goldbear Wedding Films) were there to capture all of the action. And now a word from the bride and groom on their day of days…

THE VENUE “Funnily enough I put the deposit down for the venue before we even saw it. We ended up going up a week after to make sure it was okay! The views were stunning and the story behind how EarthHouse is actually made out of rammed earth just sold us!”

THE THEMEWe both love the beach. Alban is from Albany, WA (haha I know) and has always grown up surfing. We wanted to be in a beach town but not on the beach as we love the idea of being in a beautiful garden. We wanted to keep it tropical, light and fun.”

FAVOURITE DETAILSWe put individual personalised messages on all of the guest menus. It took us weeks to organise and we nearly gave up as it was getting too hard to organise the printing, the thank yous, who was coming and the seating. I am so glad we ended up going through with it. It was something that everyone mentioned to us and said that it made them feel like they were part of something extra special. We saw so many guys with their silly awkward long menus sticking out of their jacket pockets and clutches. We were just stoked that a little piece of paper meant a lot to them.”

THE DRESS “There were three things that I did spontaneously for our wedding. The first was the venue; we booked it without physically seeing it. The second was going with Joe Chef without tasting his food. The third was the dress. I bought it online without ever trying it on. All three ended up being absolutely perfect! Beginner’s luck!! Everyone who knows me knows how much I’ve always loved the colour gold. The jewellery I design [check out Doury Jewellery, readers] is gold, I wear about 10 rings on my fingers all the time and they’re all gold. I even wear gold-rimmed glasses. They all joked about how the wedding was going to look like King Midas had gone through. So I was going to show them by rocking up in a gold wedding dress hehe. It’s like it was made for me!”

STANDOUT VENDORSAll the vendors were great with communication and detail. Especially Joe Chef’s team. Few days prior they emailed me to ask what cocktail Alban and I wanted after we walked up to the guests straight after the ceremony. Just the attention to detail and being able to have a Kaffir Lime Macadamia Caprioska and a Gin Loaded Spring Syrup Smash was perfection!”
