We have never heard a parking ticket described as a “sweet reminder” but there is a first for everything, eh? Well for Angie, today’s gorgeous Prea James clad bride, the parking fine she received on her first date with Chris will always hold a special place in her heart. These two legends have been together for “five or six years” and their whole day was a cruise fest which started off with Jasmine and Will jammies, lazing in the sun and generous servings of champagne. Good times flowed from there. We have the lovely Hannah of Keeper Creative to thank for the classy captures which can be perused below…
THE VIBE “We wanted the ceremony and wedding to feel wintery, intimate and moody. We both love to entertain and frequently have dinners with friends and family at home that go well into the night. We essentially wanted it to be the biggest dinner party we had ever hosted with everyone we love. We followed few conventions and didn’t want too much pomp and ceremony.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “I wanted to get Chris a present for the wedding day but after months of searching for something with any sentiment I gave up. I then remembered a time we had been sitting in a hotel lobby in New York and Chris became enamoured with the pianist who was playing modern classics. So at the last minute, I called our wedding planner and asked if they could source a grand piano, get it delivered to the building and find a pianist who was familiar with the likes of Hot Chip and Talking Heads. Camille [Studio Events] had it all sorted in a matter of days and when Chris turned up for the ceremony the pianist was in the corner playing renditions of some of his favourite songs.”
THE DRESS “The dress was the Arielle gown by Prea James. I found it after about three weeks of looking. I had always wanted a simple and elegant dress, but in my mind, it was long-sleeved or with a high neck. After realising my shorter stature ensured these dresses made me look like a nun and not the avant-garde model I had imagined, I soon changed my approach. I discovered Prea’s collection online. Coincidentally, there happened to be a trunk show in Fremantle that week so I went into Through the White Door with my Mum and instantly felt myself when I tried on the Arielle gown. I loved the open back and the simplicity of the design.”
LITTLE LOL “I had asked both my Mum and Dad to walk me down the aisle. I didn’t tell them what song we were walking down to. My Dad and I are both very fond of the Rolling Stones and I had chosen a song by The Stones. As I was linking arms with them about to take my first step down the aisle, Dad proclaims, ‘oh great choice, this is my funeral song.”
WE’RE GLAD WE…“A psychologist I work with cautioned me the whole day will speed by like a blur and it’s not uncommon to not remember a lot of the day/night. She told us to choose 4 or 5 moments throughout the day to “ground” ourselves. To stop for a few seconds and focus on a small detail, examine what it looks like, how you feel, what you can see, what you can smell – essentially a moment of mindfulness amongst all the madness, so a few special memories remain vivid. We both did this, and I’m so glad we did because the day really did fly by! Hannah also managed to capture a photo when Chris and I snuck a moment together and he was telling me about floating in the ocean earlier that morning and grounding himself.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “They were all amazing, so it’s hard to play favourites. Hannah Jones [Keeper Creative] our photographer was an absolute gem, the style of her photography suited the mood of the day and our personalities to a tee. Her calm and quirky personality put us at ease in front of the camera.”
