This couple have been together for five years, have a fur baby (their very cute pug, Pancake) who not only attended the ceremony but got Ubered back home afterwards and both agreed that they were so glad that they got married at noon (before a long lunch that carried into the evening) and invited so many friends. “We kept inviting more and more, and it made the day even better,” says the groom. Add some of our favourite entertainers into the mix,  Baker Boys Band and the incredible Sperry Tents Australia and you’ve got a darn good wedding on your hands. LITTLE LOLThe logistics of getting our pug, Pancake, to our ceremony. He was staying with friends in Lennox Head who could get him there, but as Pancake wasn’t allowed to stay all day, we didn’t have a way to get him back to Lennox. A couple of days before our wedding my brother ended up finding an Uber driver in Byron who was willing to come and pick Pancake up from Elements of Byron and drop him back to Lennox. For a price, but definitely worth it.”

FAVOURITE DETAILSI really loved the contrast of the black and white checked tablecloths with the bright colours of the flowers, vases and our guests. And all of our flowers by The French Petal. The flowers around the arbour were pretty spectacular and a great prop for our photos and for our guests. I also loved that there was an actual chilli in the boys’ boutonnières.”

THE DRESSRhonda Hemmingway Couture designed and made my dress. I wanted something quite relaxed and flowy with big sleeves. I also knew that I needed a long dress that I could make shorter later in the day. After a few wines, I’m prone to tucking long dresses up into my underpants and did not want to do that on my wedding day! So under the lacy kimono top layer of my dress was a more fitted, plain white dress, which was short at the front and longer at the back. As the afternoon went on, the kimono came off!”

FAVOURITE MEMORY “We got married at 12 pm, so we had photos taken at different times throughout the afternoon when the light was a bit nicer. After lunch, we went away with our bridal party for some photos and it was so fun to spend some time with them in the middle of everything. Later in the afternoon, Morgs and I had some photos in the jungle and at dusk, we went down to the beach for a few more photos. These little timeouts were really special as it gave us some time alone to catch up and talk about all the fun going on.”

A WORD OF ADVICETreat your vendors like the gods that they are. Trust them and follow their advice, they’ve seen and done it all.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All of them were incredible! Maria from Frank & Joy took my Pinterest board and created exactly what we wanted without us having to worry about anything. Shobana and David from The Robertsons Photography love love and it really shows in all of their photos. Special shout-out to Shobana who was pregnant and must have been exhausted, but shot the whole day!”
