Ash and Adam have been together for eight years and were engaged for two. “We became experts along the way attending all the wedding expos for the free cake and champagne”, laughs the bride. Adam popped the question in Ubud surrounded by candles and roses. Sticking with a romantic theme, Ash opted for a divine lace gown from one of our fave designers Grace Loves Lace. Hello May vendor and good friend Alexandra Cohen was there to capture the sweet forest vibes. Scroll down for the details…

THE VENUE “I won a getaway at the Stonebarn on Facebook. We stayed there that June with Adams parents and fell in love with the Karri Forest and surrounding areas. The venue was the most beautiful place we’d ever stayed at. After winning the stay it was hard not to believe it was meant to be.”

DIY…”The first thing that attracted us to the Stonebarn was that it is a complete BYO venue, right down to the cutlery and napkins! The venue took up a huge chunk of our budget so DIY was a must to save. Adam made the lighting for the dinner table, the doughnut board, and pallet furniture. I made the signage boards with the help of my mother in law Chris as well as the wedding invitations. Chris also did all the floristry including the bouquets and succulent gifts, which were gorgeous. It was fun doing things ourselves and made us really proud of seeing it all come together plus we saved so much money.”

THE DRESS “Adam knew I loved Grace Loves Lace, which wasn’t in Perth so he surprised me with a trip to the Gold Coast with my bridesmaid. As soon as I tried on the Gia gown I was sold. I knew Adam would love the feminine fit. I didn’t like the posh and extravagant feel of other dress stores that ask for payment just to see their dresses. The whole service provided was excellent and dress prices were reasonable.”

REFERENCES “I followed heaps of Instagram pages and signed up to Pinterest. I was overwhelmed with ideas. I would prefer to follow one or two with everything in one place such as Hello May. I do recommend attending wedding expos to get ideas…and for the free champagne, cakes, freebies and prizes. We won free teeth whitening and beauty products, as well as finding our celebrant at Festival of Love.”

LITTLE LOL “During my vows a fly went up my nose. Adam noticed it didn’t come back out and made me blow my nose in front of everyone. Later he said he was worried because my eyes were watering, I said well yes Adam I was teary from my wedding vows! I put the tissue in his pocket, which he opened later with the fly in there!! I guess this is the one bad thing about getting married in the forest.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Alexandra Cohen and her wingman Jack. They were worth every penny. They got every angle and emotion on the night. I debated getting cinematography but the photos were incredible and tell a story themselves. Also, Julie Chesson and her “roadie” /husband Keith… they went above and beyond. If you are not confident at public speaking like we were, Julie is the perfect celebrant to support you through. Supper Road were great and the food was to die for. There wasn’t a single guest that didn’t comment on how much they loved the food. We had pre-dinner canapés and a main which was plenty of food for everyone. Wanderluxe Studio makeup artist Lauren is so talented at making everyone feel amazing inside and out. She has a very gentle, calming nature so she is the sort of “good vibes” person I needed to be around on the wedding day when emotions were high.”
