Bree and Nige sure do know a thing or two about priorities. First up, their vows revolved around one of the best tv shows of all time (Brooklyn Nine-Nine FYI) promising that amongst other things, marriage is very much like rolled oats, “It sustains you”. Chuck in a few suave M.J. Bale suits, a late-night Maccas delivery, and one dapper doggo named Elvis, Bree & Nige’s day truly does reign supreme. Hello May fave Flossy Photo was there doing her thang and snapping up a storm. You can catch the rest of her exquisite captures, and more groovy details, below…

THE VENUE “From the get-go we wanted a venue that was contemporary, bold and unexpected, somewhere our friends and family had never been to a wedding and a location that showed off one of the city’s urban landmarks for our interstate / international guests. We came back for a whirlwind long weekend to do four site inspections I’d set up around the city, none of which excited us. That weekend, we also went to a music gig to see Nige’s sister’s band at The State Reception Centre Courtyard. We realized we were loving the festoon lights, the urban architecture, and the way the venue represented Perth culture. My creative juices started flowing and we realized our wedding venue had just found us.”

THE VIBE “We didn’t have a specific theme but we were inspired by the architecture of our venue, particularly the statement gold entrance and staircase. We decided on a palette of black, warm grey, lilac, slate green and peach with touches of gold throughout the stationery, table, furniture styling, and bridesmaid dresses that complimented the urban setting and our own style preferences. We both love classic movies and the fashions of old Hollywood from the 40s and 50s. We drew inspiration from those timeless looks and combined it with a modern palette to create our own unique wedding style.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The industrial-sized gold confetti canons that our bridal party released from the upper deck when we entered the reception. The gold confetti fell all over the tables and dancefloor and sparkled under the festoons all night. It was one of the best ideas Nige had! Full credit to him for pulling that part together!”

FAVOURITE MOMENTS “One of the loveliest moments involved our dog, Elvis. We rescued Elvis four years ago from a rural pound in Wagga Wagga and he’s been a big part of our relationship, so of course, we wanted Elvis to play a big part on the day. He was dressed to the nines with his very own tuxedo and took his place as a groomsman. When ‘Pasta Tim’ (the nickname we gave our friend Tim, our pseudo-celebrant!) announced it was time for the vows, Elvis let out a huge sigh and lay down at our feet. He was letting us know that he was content and happy for his two humans to officially tie the knot.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “We instantly cliqued with our photographer, Flossy, and our photos are one of the standouts from the day. Flossy’s work is incredible, it’s moody, emotive and natural. She has such a talent for capturing the candid and intimate moments throughout the day which makes for a very special collection of still memories. Flossy herself is understated and relaxed, and by the end of the night she was like one of our mates.”
