These two groovers couldn’t get cuter. After meeting on their first day of uni, things got sweeter with the duo becoming housemates, colleagues and then lovers. They also couldn’t get any cooler. Both actors, these two were engaged for a snappy seven months due to hectic schedules. Despite the short turn around, Bronte and Blake snapped up some of the best in the biz when it came to vendors. Light Noise Films captured vids whilst Tillee Music cranked the tunes. Bronte’s sweet-as-heck frock and bridal cape were the product of Christie Nicole Bridal’s genius. THE VIBE “We didn’t have a theme as such but we did want our day to mirror our personalities. We are both pretty minimalistic and love an all black/neutral colour palette. We sent our guests a dress code that was simply six coloured dots – cream, blush, sky blue, navy, moss green, and forest green. We both decided to forego bridesmaids/groomsmen/wedmates so subtly styling all our guests was our way of having the world’s biggest wedding party.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “For when I’m [Blake] not on stage, my side hustle is being the digital artist “Wolfbang” creating and selling personalised bespoke art since 2015. On the day of the wedding, as our 100 guests found where they would be seated, they were met with a bespoke printed artwork of themselves – all 100 drawn by me. I wanted each piece to be unique to the person receiving it, so each had custom features that were special to that guest (new baby, first home, late dog). For our parents, I drew them on their respective wedding days in their giant shoulder pads and cascading mullets. I was overwhelmed with how these tiny drawings were received so positively and how everyone said they had never received something so personal at a wedding before.”

THE DRESS “I stumbled across a design by Christie Nicole Bridal on Instagram well before I was even engaged. It was one of her first dresses, a long sleeve short reception dress, and I was in love. Once I got engaged, I didn’t look at a single website, didn’t try on a single wedding dress, and I didn’t contact any other designers, I just messaged Christie straight away. I knew I wanted her to make me my own version of this frock! If you want something custom, non-traditional, and beautifully detailed, Christie is your gal. The range of her unique designs is unparalleled and I am so grateful to have shared the experience with Christie.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Just do you. It’s your day, so make sure that the choices reflect you and your partner. For us, that meant planning our day in a way that ensured we spent as much time together, and with our guests, as possible. Specifically, our pre-wedding cocktails and canapés at Archie Rose Gin Distillery. Getting the chance to share a drink with our guests and say hi to everyone before the big moment was such a nice way to connect with everyone and to help kick the jitters.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…”We are so glad we chose Pip [In Light Ceremonies]. We made sure we found a celebrant who was happy to work with us to ensure that all the language in the ceremony was inclusive of all relationships and forms of love. As two humans who don’t strictly abide by gender conforms, the words “bride, groom, wife, and husband” were not used. We coined the term “spousemates”, as we fell in love as housemates, and we constantly refer to each other as “mate”. We couldn’t be more grateful to Pip for how wholeheartedly she understood and respected us in creating the safe and inclusive ceremony that we had hoped for.”
