Meet Bronte and Tim, Folks. Their love is pretty palpable. In fact, they can’t get enough of each other. “We are both lawyers! We work for the same firm, on the same floor but we love it!”, the bride reveals. Both these folks look grand in their big day ‘fits, hers a Corston Couture stunner and his a classic M.J. Bale tux. And, ngl, we were pretty darn chuffed to find out we were a big source of inspo for these guys in planning their day. “Hello May was an absolutely indispensable resource,” they tell us. Aww shucks you guys!

As for their stellar vendor team, Scott Surplice was a tried and tested standout vendor for the duo. “Scott had done the photos at Tim’s brother’s wedding and they were incredible so we knew straight away he would do an amazing job.” Take a peek and we are sure you will agree.

FAVE DETAILSWe were so happy with the flowers, by Trille Floral, on the day – all of the dry elements, the bunny tails and the colour palette matched the venue and bridesmaids’ dresses perfectly.  The boys were also quite chuffed with their boutonnières.”

DIYFor the nine months, from proposal to wedding day, our apartment was converted into a craft workshop. I [Bronte] hand-drew the invitations, menus and wine lists, perfected the art of mirror writing for our welcome sign, built a bar sign out of 300 repurposed corks, hand-dipped every place card in watercolour, created 100 petal cones out of old books, constructed table numbers out of lanterns and rope, and painstakingly wrote out all 120 names on the chalk-board seating chart.”

LITTLE LOLOur ceremony took place at the top of a large staircase in the atrium. While I had practised walking up the stairs in my shoes, I had (foolishly) neglected to attempt it in the dress. I realised my mistake when I reached the foot of the stairs and proceeded to step on the front of my hem, hampering my ability to move to the next step.  And so the cycle repeated for Every. Single. Step. Eventually, Tim took mercy and met me part-way down to pull me onto the platform at the top of the staircase. While I was mortified at the time, the moment definitely broke the tension and brought some welcome laughter.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…We’re so glad that we were able to add so many personal touches to the day. A DIY wedding can be pretty overwhelming at times but it really paid off being able to choose each little element to match our vision, and it was extremely satisfying seeing it all come together on the day.”

STANDOUT VENDORSOur photographer, Scott Surplice (the photos speak for themselves); our florist, Cara of Trille Floral (she had the most amazing energy and was just immediately on our page); our celebrant, Married by Lucy (who made everything so relaxed in the lead-up, had thought out all the logistics and delivered the ceremony perfectly); and my hair/makeup artist, Tara of Airlie & Co (a perfectionist who works absolute wonders).”
