Cait and Joey had one of the last weddings held before the COVID-19 restrictions kicked in and they sure made it worth it. “I work as a Registered Nurse in Psychiatric Emergency,” says Cait. “It doesn’t qualify me to plan a wedding, but I do feel my job prepared me to work effectively amongst chaos, which is certainly how it felt in the week leading up to our wedding in the midst of the pandemic.” Agreed! THE VENUE “We only looked at one other venue before deciding on Ovolo Woolloomooloo, we both loved it as soon as we walked in. It has such a cool style, incorporating both heritage parts of the wharf with new. Having our ceremony in the ‘Kitchen Table’ area with its wooden, pink, chapel-style vibe gave our ceremony an element of fun which is really reflected in our photos.”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers from Hermetica Flowers for sure! They were so beautiful. We had gone with ‘sculptural en masse clusters of flowers’ with tonal fruits. The funniest part of this was everyone eating the grapes that were part of the centrepieces. Apparently they were very tasty! We also loved our invites; the artwork on the front was drawn by a friend and featured our little cat, Rupert.”
THE DRESS “I absolutely love slinky, minimal dresses with low backs that just look effortless. But as a gal with a fuller bust, it was extremely hard to find a dress to fit this description, so I decided to get one made. When I first started looking for a dress I went to Corston Couture and tried on some of her collection. Coral (the owner/designer) was so lovely and clearly had an eye for detail. When I made the decision to have my dress made it was a no brainer to go back to her. I loved it!”
REFERENCES “I entered a few questions into Hello May’s Instagram Q&As. I also did a fair amount to Instagram and Pinterest trawling as well.”
COOL CUSTOM “Joey is Lebanese so we had Lebanese drums by C’DARZ Entertainment to make an entrance; it was so fun and really set a high mood and fun energy to kick off the celebrations.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Enlisted the help of a stylist. Initially we thought we could organise it all ourselves but as it got closer to the date, all of the little details seemed like a huge task. Emma from The Wild Side made it so easy and the reassurance of knowing someone was there on the day making it all look fabulous meant we could relax.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “A special mention has to be made to our photographers Damien Milan and Anastasia. They have crazy amounts of talent but were also really fun. It never felt forced and both of us felt so comfortable having our pictures taken by them. Our celebrant Oliver Thompson and Nik from We Play Records.”
