This quirky duo were together for 12 years before they decided to secretly elope. Four extra special guests and two much-loved pooches attended the Fitzroy Gardens nuptials that involved a mid-ceremony cocktail. Whilst a soiled pair of underwear persuaded the couple to get married at their ‘second choice’ tree, it was still magic. Lens wizards Alex Motta of Motta Weddings was there to capture the fun times…
THE VENUE “We knew we wanted to go to Nobu for dinner afterwards and stay at The Crown, so we thought Fitzroy Gardens would be a beautiful, dog-friendly, and convenient choice.”
THE VIBE “Relaxed and intimate, while at the same time being extremely organised as I am a stress head! Being only 6 people in total plus 2 dogs, you would think the organising would be easy, however, the stress of having to keep it a secret was difficult at times.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “Honestly everything was exactly what I wanted. The flowers took my breath away [Flowers by Brett Matthew John], my shoes were incredible (before they sunk in the mud and I ruined them), and when I saw Daz in that hot pink bow tie and socks, my day was made!”
THE DRESS “I knew I would be in a Zimmermann dress as they are so beautifully made and always feel great on. I was 100% certain I would wear a bright colour/colours and then have white flowers. I ordered in a long floral dress from the Sydney boutique and tried it on in the Doncaster store. It wasn’t quite right, so I tried on a few more. Not having much luck, Mum brought in a white dress and told me to just try it on. ‘No Mum I am not wearing white, it’s not me!’ I proclaimed. She was very persistent, so I decided to just try it on to shut her up. Turns out I loved it and decided I would change to a white dress with colourful flowers. First shop, first day – done!”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “The highlight of the day was definitely the ceremony. Benny did a brilliant job fitting the brief of fun-filled and full of surprises. The look on all four of our guest’s faces throughout was priceless!”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Do whatever you want! There are no rules anymore. This is your day and no one else’s. You want 2 people? Great! 2,000? Fantastic! You do you, and have the best day ever.”
