Crystal and Brent’s day was always going to be one epic, beautifully styled and totally unique event, with the pair both hustling creative side gigs (Crystal, a stylist and budding graphic designer, whilst hubby-to-be, Brent, creates incredible illustrations and large scale murals). Their nuptials, caught on camera by the talented Jimmy Raper, with the four months pregnant bride in a stunning Bo & Luca gown and desserts from Black Pantry, it was one hell of a day to remember. LITTLE LOL “Brent and I found out four months from the wedding that I’d fallen pregnant. He was away in LA for work at the time and arrived home on Father’s Day, which was all too perfect. I told him we were expecting, I’ve never seen him look so emotional and be so happy all at the same time. It was the best moment for the lead up to the wedding. It also meant that any stresses I had for the wedding took a backseat – nothing really matters that much
does it!”
THE VENUE “We have made a fair few surf trips with friends up to Pacific Palms over the years and had fallen in love with the area. My family are all from the Coffs Harbour coast so it literally was halfway for all friends and family – winning!”
THE VIBE “Being brought up by my Palm-obsessed landscaper father, and having lived on a five-acre palm farm has really shaped me into the person I am today. I wanted a tropical jungle created inside for the venue. Hanging tropical greenery chandeliers, huge palms and tropical greenery in pots, lots of natural timber with a clean colour palette. I tracked down the talented Ash from Poco Uno to help me out with this and together we came up with the most epic ideas. Ash was a lifesaver on the day and (throughout) and really went up and beyond to create the wedding I’ve always dreamt about.”
FAVOURITE DETAIL “My favourite detail from the day was the custom neon palm tree sign that Brent Smith illustrated for our wedding stationery. Having it made in neon was the best decision ever. It really popped amongst all the green from the plants and threw the most awesome glow over our guests.”
THE DRESS “My dress was so perfect in the end, the girls from Bo & Luca were a godsend. I visited their showroom in Surry Hills and had seen my dress on their website. As soon as I tried it on I knew it was absolutely perfect! Thank god for the wrap style because with the unplanned bub on the way, I had a little growing room for the bump with I had certainly not planned on needing!”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our jeweller and great friend Lucie from Baby Anything was an absolute star. From helping Brent create my stunning engagement ring to helping me with both Brent’s and my wedding bands, we just couldn’t be happier. Lucie really just gets you. Also, our incredible photographer, Jimmy Raper, did such an amazing job. He suited us perfectly, adapted and kept his cool when the weather came over terribly. Jimmy captured the most amazing photos of the day, they were candid and natural and at no point did we feel uncomfortable. I highly recommend him!”
