This is the sweet story of an electrician and a stylist, their 10 day trip to Byron Bay for their dream destination wedding, (where they found each five years before), a killer dress (not to mention dance floor), and one glorious ring by Grew & Co, of course. Then there’s the styling, neon signs and an Airstream… As founder of creative studio, The Make Haus, the bride did everything from the venue to the stationary, and of course created the incredible bouquet and floral installations. She set some seriously high expectations and judging by the shots from Jason Corroto and the video by Lynden Foss, we think she nailed it…

THE PROPOSAL “James surprised me with a trip to Noosa and the morning of (at 4am), James put on our favourite song- Flight Facilities ‘Claire de lune’- and walked me to the lounge room where he had painted on the floor a 4x4m ‘WILL YOU MARRY ME?’ in ceiling paint. He had started at midnight and it was a pretty magical moment.”

THE VENUE “As a stylist, I had seen so many local venues and none felt exciting anymore. When we found The Orchard Estate we booked it instantly. We had just painted our house black and since it was the same, we knew our friends would instantly understand why we picked it.”

FAVOURITE DETAILSThe greatest detail was our suppliers, particularly our photographer, Jason Corroto and our videographer, Lynden Foss, who both created absolute magic. They made James and I comfortable to be documented so closely and it’s been the best gift of all. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the Airstream. It was hands down the most beautiful feature of the wedding.”

THE DRESS “Stephanie from Sant Elia designed the most beautiful dress. I am in awe of her ability and think of that dress every day. I’ll never sell it and hope my daughter will try it one day. We developed the shape of the gown from one she had on the racks and the look evolved. It was important to have a contemporary dress, which still was quite bridal. It was beyond my wildest dreams.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Committed to a destination wedding. The 10 days we were away,  hanging out with our friends and family, were absolutely priceless. We’re also glad we wrote our own vows. They were really emotional, yet funny.”
