Danika-Taylor-415

First featured in Issue 11, Danika and Taylor’s wedding was simply an excuse to get all their friends and family together. Held at Lightspace in Brisbane’s CBD, everything else (read: food, booze and music) was just the icing on the wedding cakes (they had three!).

£We looked at a couple of different venues but decided on Lightspace as they were the most flexible and we were really able to make the wedding our own. We liked the industrial style the venue had and that we were able to bring in any vendors we wanted to,— says Danika, whose decision to hire photographer Jess Jackson, celebrant Paul Voge and florist Caroline de Lore of Wilde Flora paid off in spades.

£Paul (Voge) made our wedding – he wrote a personalised speech about us? and encouraged us to write our own vows – something I would never have contemplated before. It really made our ceremony something special. He guided us throughout the whole process, proofread speeches, herded the crowd for a group photo and even hung around while we were having our photos taken just so he could announce us back into the reception. Jess was absolutely fantastic, so friendly and relaxed, yet she seemed to do the work of five photographers.—

And as for the floral chandeliers and bouquets created by Caroline? £She did the most amazing job of all the greenery, both around the ceremony and reception spaces and our bouquets were just perfect,— says Danika. £I adore her style.—

For Taylor however, nothing could top the moment he saw his one and only come down the aisle, dressed in a gorgeous, long sleeved gown by Lover. When asked about his fondest memory he is quick to tell us £Danika walking down the aisle to So Long Lonesome by Explosions in the Sky. We danced to this song 10 years earlier while overseas. It was an awesome moment.—

Danika, on the other hand, says she’ll never forget Taylor’s vows – or the number of hours she spent crafting wedding favours. £We made the place cards, menus, seating chart and tags for the favours. Our apartment looked like a small sweatshop the week before the wedding. After spending hours tying the tags around our favours, my friend and I joked that if someone left theirs behind we would chase after them with it.—
