Today we’d love to intro you to Einnie and Tom – a fab Melbourne couple who opted for some simple registry nups followed by a fun inner-city reception. For these folks, marriage means “constantly trying to decide on which show to watch next, never making the other person feel guilty for wanting to order Uber Eats, taking the dog out for a walk alone when the other person needs a sleep-in, making a tea for the other person first thing in the morning or the last thing at night, not holding back when playing Settlers of Catan, dancing after an argument and never going to bed angry or upset.” Sounds like #relationshipgoals to us!

With the lush pink setting of Chin Chin setting the mood, phenom florals decorating a showstopping cake by Ladybird Cakes, loads of laughter and love, this big day – shot by our very talented friends over at It’s Beautiful Here – is one for the books.

THE VENUEChin Chin has always been one of our favourite restaurants in Melbourne. We were ecstatic when we found out they could sit 130 people in their event space, as we were finding it difficult to find restaurants that could fit our guestlist and that was close to the city to keep it central with our Marriage Registry ceremony. Luckily, I had been to another event there before and we locked it in without Tom seeing the space. We just knew that our guests would love the food and felt confident we would make the space our own.”

FAVE DETAILSI loved our flowers, especially my bouquet, which received so many compliments from friends, family and strangers on the day. I didn’t have anything in mind except for the colours and general vibe, and Gia Studio blew me away. We also loved our invites as my dear friend Calvin designed them. He’s so talented and just understood what we wanted immediately from the start. My other friend, Viv, who runs her candle business, burnn, created amazing scented candles as favours for our guests (as well as the decorative pillar candles for the windowsill where the cake was). The little candle tins tied the place settings together and we now have our own bespoke wedding scent!”

DIYOur wishing well was a hat box from a dollar store that Tom spray painted the morning of because we thought the white it was originally would be too stark at Chin Chin. Such a small detail, but we’re so glad we did it because we didn’t want it to stick out. Also, a true classic procrastinator moment from the two of us because I only bought the box three days out!”

TAKE ON TRADITIONThe day before the wedding, we had a tea ceremony at home to pay respect to my grandparents who have passed and ask for their blessing on our marriage. My family put everything together and it kicked off the wedding weekend for us. It felt really special to show Tom this part of my culture and was a way for my family to officially welcome him into the family, even though I think he’s my mum’s favourite out of the two of us.”

WE’RE GLAD WE…We’re really happy we decided to get married at the Victoria Marriage Registry. We loved that all we had to do was show up! Because of COVID, we could only have a maximum of 15 guests and it was the perfect number to fit our immediate family and best friends.”

STANDOUT VENDORSKat, our photographer from It’s Beautiful Here, made us feel really comfortable throughout the whole day. It made us both feel so much more at ease having her around to guide us on what to do.”
