Elise & Leo are first-class chillers, guys, having made the decision to roll with the punches and stick to their original date despite the constant shifting of COVID restrictions. Regardless of having to plan four different weddings, they were utterly stoked with their micro wedding experience, and have absolutely no regrets. Best of all, their beloved feline friend Felix was in attendance. Now, scroll down for HM fave Alexandra Cohen’s beaut snaps of this intimate day…

THE VIBE “We ended up calling our special day a ‘micro wedding’ and really loved the challenge of creating a special, intimate day for us and our families. Turns out, it wasn’t a challenge at all… It actually meant we had our dream wedding! It was important for us to make everyone feel relaxed. We wanted to bring a laid-back vibe without losing the magic.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “We are both big fans of the TV show The Office (US Version). So, once we had signed the register, Forever by Chris Brown started to play… If you know, you know! Then, to kick off cocktail hour, the amazing staff at Raes served bowls of fries (with lots of tomato sauce) and Pampelle Spritz’. This was the best way to celebrate the first hour of being married!”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “My favourite moment was once we got back from our drive through Byron Bay for our photos. We had asked Raes to light candles and have two Limoncello Spritz’ waiting for us in Suite 5. We were able to sit and enjoy some time alone before heading into dinner up in the Penthouse.”

DIY “I am an artist and so I was very involved with our little details of the day. I drew a portrait of our cat Louis, who has passed away, to have at the ceremony and with us at dinner. I also painted each of the place cards which doubled as the favours. These were ‘minimalistic’ scenes of Raes on Wategos.”

REFERENCES “My sister-in-law Eugenie and her husband Rob had booked Alex for their photography and I remember meeting Alex at their wedding last year and thinking, wow – she is a dream. Not only was she incredibly talented, but she is warm and a ray of sunshine. Those are the kinds of people I wanted surrounding not only us but our entire family on the day! Phoebe Galloway had filmed a few weddings of friends, and we knew she would be incredible. She tells stories in the most magical way! I had bought every recent copy of Hello May and it was really helpful getting my head around a smaller wedding.”

Pretty impressive, eh? Well, we’ve got more smashing wedding day photography from Alexandra Cohen here and here. You can also head on over here to catch all her details. But first…
