It’s throwback Thursday, friends! For this creative (Ella is a jewellery designer by trade) and Vujan, a lawyer, their love story started 12 years ago and culminated in this Yarra Valley wedding of epic proportions, which we originally published in our Real Wedding Special. They enlisted the help of a few of our fave vendors – on pics, the talented She Takes Pictures He Makes Films, on tunes, Melbourne Entertainment Company and both the bride and groom and bridal party were decked out in top-notch designers, Lola Varma, M.J. Bale and Bec + Bridge. Scroll down for the goods…

THE VENUE “We wanted to have both the ceremony and the reception at the same venue and we also knew that we didn’t want a religious ceremony but both loved the idea of getting married in a small chapel. So that narrowed it down pretty quickly. We chose Stones of the Yarra Valley – everything about it was so beautiful and it had a very relaxed vibe.”

FAVE MOMENTS “I would have to say my top three moments were: the ceremony – walking with my dad down the aisle, finally getting to see Vujan. Reading our vows, and having petals thrown on us at the end! 2. Getting ready with my bridesmaids [who wore Bec + Bridge]. The night before and day of was so exciting and fun. The girls really made it special and stress-free. 3. Walking into the reception and seeing all of our favourite people there and knowing we had a whole night of good food and dancing ahead.”

THE DRESS “I loved wedding dress shopping. We always made a day of it, going for lunch or coffee after and discussing the options.  Overall I probably looked for six months. I had a general idea of what I was after but wasn’t sure what would suit me. My chosen wedding outfit was from Australian designer Lola Varma. After trying on my initial favourite and few others we all fell in love with the top and skirt combo I ended up wearing.”

TOUCH OF TRADITION “Vujan’s family is Serbian, so we had parts of the ceremony and speeches in Serbian. We also organized with the venue to have a traditional Serbian liquor passed around at the end of speeches for a group ‘Cheers’ or ‘Živeli’ in Serbian.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Everyone will have an opinion, take them with a grain of salt and do what you want.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Booked an extra night in the Yarra Valley after the wedding. We were so exhausted the next day. We went out for brunch with some family and friends and spent the afternoon reading our cards and looking at photos.”
