“When we both felt the time was right, we picked one of our favourite places to go, enjoyed a picnic together, said some nice words to one another and returned to Melbourne engaged!” A joint proposal…Uh, we love em’ already. Fast forward to their nuptials and need we say more than the beautiful pics below? We don’t. But of course we will! THE VENUE “We love being outdoors and away from the city. It just so happened that King Parrot Cottages and Event Centre was in the Otways, one of our favourite places and nearby where we got engaged. It’s such a beautiful place amongst nature – the smell of the bush, birds and kangaroos everywhere – as soon as we visited, we knew it was perfect for us!”

THE THEME “The overall vibe was kind of like a really fancy house party! In terms of the look, Jacob and I like to keep things relaxed and I think our style reflects this. His olive green tweed suit (by Oscar Hunt Tailors) was kind of the starting point, and from this a classic, vintage feel developed.”

FAVE DETAILS “Without a doubt, the flowers! Alice from She’s a Wildflower is so talented. When I first met with her, the only thing I knew I wanted was some sort of pink – she took this crumb of an idea I had and delivered the most amazing displays. We also loved the dining setting we created because of how it complimented our theme/vibe for the wedding perfectly. The picnic bench set up meant there was no seating arrangement, so people could relax and eat as they pleased. We also had next to no decorations, other than festoon lights and candles, so the view of the forest was able to speak for itself.”

THE DRESS “Funnily enough, the dress I ended up in was a backup! I thought a good option would be to get a dress made from a picture. With only a few months to go, I tried it on and it didn’t quite turn out as I’d hoped. I went home in a panic (to say the least) and trawled the internet until I found this one on Net-A-Porter. It was actually the most perfect dress! It was my style to a tee, so I was happy in the end for the initial mistake.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Miranda Stokkel is such an awesome lady. She was a dream to have at the wedding and made us feel like supermodels in front of the camera. We’re thrilled with the results and can’t recommend her enough. Also, The Nook by Kate Disher-Quill took on the challenge to shoot analogue/film for the wedding. She worked with Miranda seamlessly and was also such a joy to have at the wedding. Her style is really cool and her pictures have turned out to be beautiful pieces of art.”
