These two creative cats (Emma dabbles in luxury stationery design and Alex, carpentry and custom furniture) are cute to boot and had one hella cool wedding. Why? “There’s no greater expression for how I feel about someone than to marry them, so for me this day was everything,” answers the stunning bride. THE VENUE “We always wanted to get married down south and Black Brewing Co is such a beautiful venue. It was an obvious front runner for venues but the amazing venue manager, Tiff, was the icing on the cake. She was a complete dreamboat. Incredibly down to earth and easy-going, yet super organised, easy to get in contact with and she just understood everything that we wanted and pulled the day off like a champion!”
FAVE DETAILS “The bridal bouquets and our ceremony location [at the Black Brewing Co]. The flowers were so simple yet elegant – very me. And the venue, well… it was an otherworldly experience. It’s so incredibly picturesque with minimal styling, so it suited us perfectly.”
DIY “The short answer to this is yes, and too much – haha! I basically did everything on my own. I had absolutely no idea of what I was doing and looking back, I cannot believe that I actually pulled it off! It started with our wedding website, then the invites, welcome signage, I picked all the flowers and had one of my bridesmaids do them (Lucy – The Floral Folk Co.). I did all of the venue layout arrangements… you name it, I did it! Oh, and I also drank all the champagne on the day.”
THE DRESS “I loved my dress. I got it custom made from Brides By Design and it was the first dress I tried on. This, however, didn’t stop me (and my army of bridesmaids and mum), continuing on to four other stores to find the perfect one. I loved the experience of dress shopping.”
THE SUIT “Alex’s suit jacket was from M.J. Bale which he instantly loved. The fit, colour and feel were all right. The pants were from Lululemon [and] were a non-negotiable simply due to the fact that they’d allow for ‘full range of motion squats’ on the dance floor.”
LITTLE LOL “I know I had a fun day, as after attempting to dry clean my dress three times, we’ve declared that its officially ruined. Thats got to count for something right?”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Got a videographer. That was something we organised in the two weeks leading up to our big day and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we made. Being able to watch our day back is so special and the Apertunity guys did a phenomenal job.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “FLOSSY! No questions asked. Flossy Photo is bloody incredible and what she does and made our whole day perfect. A down to earth photographer who can control the crowd (and a bridal party of 12) is exactly what we needed and we clicked from the second she turned up. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone.”
