Brandon was always sure that Erica was the one. “We’ve been together for almost five years, but I definitely have had my eye on her for a long time. I planted my seed a couple years before we started dating with passive texts, Facebook messages and casual conversations – I knew she was special and that I was going to end up with her.” After a two year engagement, the pair got hitched in a destination wedding in Mexico and lucky for us, photographers, Folk + Follow were there to catch it all…
THE VENUE “We both knew that we wanted a destination wedding and Cabo has always been one of our favourite places. It was important to me to be able to surf and for Erica, she wanted a boutique hotel – meaning a place where our wedding guests were the only ones occupying the place. When we visited Cabo Surf, not only was it absolutely gorgeous, but the service was superb, visitors on the beach mentioned they had been coming there for years and it met both of our requirements. The decision was pretty easy and our family is from the Midwest which is brutal and cold in February (when our wedding took place). Let’s just say they were more than ecstatic when they found out our wedding was going to be in Mexico!”
FAVOURITE DETAIL “I would have to say a combination of the crystals and flowers. Weddings are a spiritual time in life and our flowers and crystals amplified all of the divine energy and frequencies that were played out on our special day. It was such a magical addition. Also, our churro cake! It was one absolutely delicious and I hadn’t seen anything like it before!”
THE DRESS “My dress was designed by Daughters Of Simone and I found it at LOHO Bride, which sells gowns made for the bride who is in a “league of her own”. I made it a girls trip with my mom, my now, mother-in-law, grandmother and maid of honour. When we walked through the doors of LOHO Bride, Rolling Stones was playing and glasses of champagne were flowing needless to say, my experience was amazing!”
COOL CUSTOM “At the beginning of our ceremony, guests were asked to place rose quartz on the circle that Brandon I were standing in, completing it and securing the circle with infinite love. Also, I’m half Mexican so it was important to incorporate the “e lazo” ritual, which is an oversized floral rosary, large enough to be entwined around the couple. After we exchanged our vows, our parents, placed the “el lazo” around us to form an infinity symbol, blessing our unity.”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “Had a two-year engagement. A lot of our family and friends gave us many jokes about it, but I think it made our wedding day more memorable because we were looking forward to it a little bit longer than most couples! Also, that we did a destination wedding! Having all of our friends and family together for five days was incredible and the memories we created are unforgettable.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “I have to give a special shout out to our photographers, Folk + Follow and our videographer, Wil Grandaderos, who even went into the ocean to get surfing footage! The moments they captured are indescribable and move my heart and soul every time I look at the photos or watch our video. Alex DJ Cabo Events was bomb, Mishka Designs was impeccable and our hotel coordinator, Dafne (of Cabo Surf), was amazing.”
