Together for nine years, Erica and Jesse got engaged while holidaying in balmy Noosa before booking their quintessential Melbourne wedding during winter 18 months later. The pair picked Poodle Fitzroy to host their love party with 80 of their nearest and dearest watching on, and uber-talented lens lady Nikki McCrone along for the ride to get the epic snaps. Both these folks also looked grand in their big day ‘fits, hers a stunner made by a talented bestie (so impressive!) and his a classic Oscar Hunt Tailors tux. Scroll down for all the deets…

THE VIBE “We wanted a wedding that epitomised Melbourne in August – a cocktail wedding with lots of dancing, fabulous food and cocktails.”

THE DRESS “It was created and designed by my most talented friend and colleague Jacqui – a creative pattern maker by trade. With a few reference photos and a strong idea of what I was after, Jac and I decided on a fabric and then made quick work of finalising the pattern in 3D avatar before starting production. The dress then took shape very quickly, making a few tweaks and changes along the way. The experience of creating the dress was one of the most stress-free parts of the planning process. I loved how collaborative the whole experience was and as it was not created through a traditional bridal boutique, we did not have to worry about leadtimes. We even decided to make a sequinned pair of pants the week of the wedding!”

THE SUIT “The tuxedo was from Oscar Hunt Tailors and the experience was faultless. The tux was made to measure and we had the same specialised team member who me helped through the entire process and ensured the suit measured to perfection.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “It is a testament to our photographer Nikki that the first look photos would be our favourite part of the day. Nikki lead us around the lanes of Fitzroy with music playing through a speaker clipped to her belt, alongside the three cameras used to photograph us.”

STANDOUT VENDORSNikki McCrone our photographer was incredible through the entire planning process and offered fabulous advice and recommendations along the way. Our celebrant Zee Scott brought the house down and also made our fabulous wedding cake. How talented can one woman be! Last but not least Jacqui, my most talented friend and dress creator.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t rule out a winter wedding! Vendors and venues have a lot better availability, and you may be pleasantly surprised by the weather on the day.”
