Sporting three nose rings between them, the bride rocking a midriff and the groom in shorts, this couple brought a level of cool like no other to their big day. Combine that with a cocktail wedding and reception rolled into one and you can tell the bride and groom are practicing what they preach in every way, which is their advice, too. Simply, “do you”. The talented couple DIY’d most elements, including the flowers, invites, cake and decorations and Kyra Boyer Photography was there to catch all the fun- also featuring as one of the couple’s standout vendors. Check out her pics and you’ll see why.

THE PROPOSAL Slightly rushed and unplanned, I worked up the courage on Easter Sunday. I had a great idea of tying the ring around our Dog’s neck and him bringing it in to her in the morning as I brought her breakfast in bed. Unfortunately he needed to go to the toilet about four times before I could put the ring on him and take everything upstairs, so a cold coffee and burnt croissants ensued. Plus a poorly tied ring – which was possibly cutting off our poor dog’s blood circulation. I also forgot to give her the flowers I was hiding in the cupboard, but I don’t think she cared too much when she saw the ring.

THE VIBE Our plan was to have a relaxed, intimate cocktail vibe where everyone could mingle and have fun. No formal dining, lots of different food options and a good grazing and dessert table. Rustic, pink and floral were the key elements of the look we were going for.

THE DRESS I didn’t want to have a traditional dress, as it’s not what I would ever wear in day-to-day life. I always wear crop tops and two pieces, so after going on Pinterest for some inspiration, I saw my perfect top – short, off the shoulder and very me. It was from Grace Loves Lace. Once the top arrived, I knew instantly what I wanted my skirt to look like. I purchased the fabric myself and drew my vision on paper hoping I could get someone to make it. Through word of mouth I found Maria. I loved her and she was very confident in bringing my vision to life.

LITTLE LOL During the photos, Kyra said to relax and be natural and I (Nick) took it a bit too literally and farted. That probably got the biggest smiles for us though.

STANDOUT VENDORS Kyra (photographer), Wendy (celebrant) and Willow and Graze (catering) were all AMAZING! Everyone was super chilled and really connected with our vision for the day. Meeting and discussing the wedding with everyone was really easy and the communication leading up to the wedding from Kyra and Wendy was exceptional. The grazing table done by Willow and Graze was such a huge hit from all attendees. We highly recommend everyone!

MEMORABLE MOMENT Both of us share the same moment- when Ethlinn walked down the aisle and we made eye contact for the first time.

MARRIAGE MEANS… Lots of vacuuming and dusting.
