With a guest-list of over 200, Georgia and Simon’s venue choice was always going to be crucial.Sophia took our breath away the moment we stepped in,” says Georgia. “It ticked all the boxes; it was inner-city, big enough for our 240 guests, weather-proof and it had cool Melbourne-style character.” The couple threw a huge party in the space, which incorporated Georgia’s Jewish heritage… including a Hora that had the d-floor literally bouncing. One of our all-time fave lens ladies Maegan Brown Moments got in on the fun and took some beautiful pics to boot. Scroll down to see…

THE VIBE “We’re both quite partial to a party so wanted it to be fun, inclusive and light-hearted. We also wanted to make sure our worlds really collided, as I grew up in Melbourne and Simon in Sydney, and as I’m Jewish and Simon isn’t, we wanted to make sure our cultures, histories and friends and families mixed well. Seeing everyone dancing together on our dance floor during the Hora was definitely the best part of the night for me.”

FAVE DEETS “The flowers absolutely took our breath away. Gina from Georgie Boy did such a great job, the park where we had our ceremony looked whimsical and magical, and the reception florals were abundant and cool, coming out of Sophia’s fireplaces. We really loved them. Another favourite detail was having McDonald’s cheeseburgers delivered to our dancefloor at about 11pm. Such a hit after a few margaritas!”

THE DRESS “It’s honestly my favourite wedding dress I’ve ever seen. I knew I didn’t want something bride-y or traditional. I went to a few bridal boutiques with my mum and sisters and tried on these incredible ballerina gowns, and as much as I appreciated how beautiful they were, I just knew they weren’t me. I found Christie Nicole Bridal on Instagram and saw this incredible feathered, strapless, simple-yet-cool A-line dress, and thought, ‘Could I pull that off’? I went to her studio, tried it on, and I loved it.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “As is Jewish tradition, we didn’t see each other or even speak to each other the week before the wedding. We missed each other so much, so when I walked out and down the aisle and saw Simon standing at the end, I just wanted to run and jump into his arms. It was overwhelming and surreal and so happy.”

LITTLE LOL “After our wedding we had so many people ask us whether the floor was okay – we didn’t notice amongst all the excitement but apparently in the Hora and later during dance time the entire floor was bouncing up and down as people were jumping on it!”

STANDOUT VENDOR “We loved our photographer Maegan Brown Moments so much. She had such an awesome energy and really got amongst it – to the point that she actually got on someone’s shoulders in the Hora to take pics from above!”
