Imogen and Jim are sentimental sweethearts, which influenced their decision to have their big day at Jim’s family’s scenic Mornington Peninsula property. The only trouble? It was kinda a construction site. “They had just begun renovations,” the bride, Imogen, tells us. “I think we might have given them both a heart attack when we asked if we could have it there but without hesitation they both immediately said ‘yes’! We will never be able to thank them enough for working around the clock to halve their initial timeframe and have their home looking so incredibly beautiful by the big date.”

It was a decision that paid off, because let us tell you, this one’s a goodie. Imogen shared the nitty gritty with us, and the sensational Madeline Kate Photography was on hand to document the entire affair, so keep reading…

THE INSPOThe most important and special thing to us was to make the whole day feel welcoming, fun, relaxed and personal. I loved towing the line between rustic and luxurious elements with little bits of fun to create something that felt really unique. I also knew that I wanted there to be beautiful, vibrant colours, and lots of glowing lights.”

THE DRESSIt sounds like a cliché but it was honestly the first one I tried on. When I put it on I immediately felt comfortable, and like it was true to me. I went to KYHA Studios with my Mum and sisters, and the women there made the experience so fun – champagne always helps!”

FAVE DEETSI think the bow that I wore in my hair was one of my absolute favourite details of my outfit. My mum hand-stitched it which was really special and it felt more myself than if I were wearing a veil.”

MEMORABLE MOMENTIt was really nice to have my Dad drive me to the ceremony in the car that he’s had since we were kids. It was special to have that moment together, just the two of us, before the ceremony. He had even made a playlist for us to listen to some of our favourites which was so sweet. Another favourite moment was just taking a minute to sit back at our reception and watch all of the people that we love most in the world coming together.”

REFERENCESOne of my favourite things about our wedding was that so many of our incredible vendors were friends or friends of friends! It made it all the more special having lots of people that we’ve known for a lot of our lives be involved in the day. We found a lot of our other amazing vendors through word-of-mouth and the Hello May Directory.

STANDOUT VENDORSOur amazing photographer, Maddie, was recommended by our best friends – she’s also shooting their wedding. Maddie was great at making the photography session after the ceremony so much fun. She had a little speaker with her and was playing bangers which made the whole thing feel like a party! Jacqui, our event planner, went so above and beyond. Not only did she have the whole thing meticulously planned to a tee, she oversaw the whole process in the days before and after the wedding which made everyone able to relax and enjoy the fun. Honestly, I could recommend each and every one of the vendors we had on the day – everyone was incredible and made it so special.”

If Jim and Imogen’s pics give you the warm fuzzies, then be sure to hit up Madeline Kate via our directory here so that she can capture yours, too. But first, you know what to do…
