After 15 years together and with two cute kiddos in tow, Jacqui and Ryan became Mr and Mrs at iconic Melbourne arts and culture precinct, Abbortford Convent. “We wanted a garden for the ceremony and somewhere large enough for everyone to spread out comfortably for the reception,” Jacqui tells us. “The Abbotsford Convent’s grounds and buildings are so gorgeous – we knew this was our spot.”

THE VIBE “We wanted things to be relatively classic but also fun and relaxed – garden party vibes.”

FAVE DEETS “It’s so hard to pick a favourite! Everything came together so well to complement one another. The flowers were incredible, we loved our table settings with the menus and fruit, the cake was a wonder, the different music at each stage (ceremony, cocktail hour and reception) was absolutely perfect – no notes! We are eternally grateful to our stylist Agi at Whole Lotta Love Creative for all her time spent planning so that we could enjoy our day and relax.”

THE DRESS “It’s a slip and blouse from Harriette Gordon that I bought from Bluebell Bridal in Melbourne. We only gave ourselves six months to plan, which meant that I had to be quick with finding a dress. I did a bunch of research before we went shopping as I had to bring my five-month-old son on the shopping trip, plus my bridesmaid Sarah came along too with her four-month-old son so time was limited. But I was so lucky as Ria at Bluebell was incredible and helped me get through a stack of dresses very quickly before we found my dress. So, miraculously in all the shopping trip was only a few hours!”

THE SUIT “I researched tailors in Melbourne before visiting Oscar Hunt and immediately felt very happy there. Just like Jacqui, it was a quick process for me!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Our daughter was two-and-a-half at the time of the wedding and was doing her best to be cool calm and collected – she had been watching YouTube videos of flower girls with us leading up to the day so she knew what to do and she was so excited to play her role. She started off strong, walking down the aisle most of the way throwing petals, wearing her flower crown, but the wheels came off once we were up at the front listening to the celebrant and saying our vows –she had a captive audience and had to dance around at the front, moon everyone, enthusiastically throw petals at us, ask loudly where her friend (another flowergirl) was and cause a general ruckus. Elsa captured some of the magic on camera. From all reports she stole the show!”
