Jeanne (from France) and Alex (from Australia) met in Stockholm and have worked, travelled or lived in Australia, Asia and Europe, so their wedding was always bound to be a destination affair. Lucky for them they had Perth based destination wedding photographer Natasja Kremers along for the ride to capture every gorgeous detail, which we’ll let Jeanne fill you in on below…

THE PROPOSAL “A very modern (and decidedly unromantic) ‘proposal’… We had been together for five and a half years, and both of us wanted to get married, so one day we just decided to “take the plunge”! We chose the engagement ring together, which Alex surprised me within the French Garden in Sinjuku Gyoen, Tokyo”

THE VENUEI’d always wanted to get married at my family home. Provence in summer is hard to beat – long days, peach-coloured sunsets and glasses of rosé on the terrace. It really was a dream come true.”

FAVOURITE DETAILSThe Laurent’s greenery arch at the entrance of the marquee – it looked absolutely amazing! I also loved my bouquet and I wish I could have kept it forever.”

THE DRESS “My dad had always wanted to be involved in the choice of my wedding dress. I was living in Malaysia and planned two days in Paris with him to find my dress. I had looked at a lot of designers, but Rime Arodaky really stood out but was worried my dad would not like it, as the top/skirt combination was quite unconventional. I went to try on the dress and knew it was “The One”, and told the manager Justine I didn’t need to try anything else. My dad loved it too, which was a relief!”

MEMORABLE MOMENT (Jeanne)“Walking down the aisle with my Dad was a really special moment and something that I had always dreamed of as a little girl. I think my dad was extremely proud too!” (Alex) “I loved being at the reception with so many of my close friends, from so many different parts of the world. It was a truly festive atmosphere – long tables, wine flowing, beautiful music. Some Scottish friends of ours gave us a “quaich”, or Gaelic drinking cup. As per tradition, the guests took turns sipping whisky from the cup, in between dancing and yelling. And we all ended up in the swimming pool at 2:30 am!”

STANDOUT VENDORSNatasja Kremers – The photos are amazing, she really made us feel comfortable and completely understood what we were about. I never think I look good in photos and she made me feel like she wasn’t even there, and it turned out perfectly. I can’t thank her enough”.
