After 11 years together, this couple describe marriage as “having the opportunity to fall in love with one person over and over again.” Romantic huh? They got together just after high school and now live in London- which sounds fabulous, until you have to organise a wedding, of course. But not to worry, with help from their clever vendors, they were able to pull together a dreamy, country wedding, on a property used in the past as the set of McLeod’s Daughters, no less. Katie Harmsworth caught it all on camera, while Kane Chenoweth got it on film, so do yourself a favour and scroll down for all the details…

THE PROPOSAL “Around the corner from our place in London is a beautiful little street called Exmouth Markets. The street is littered with cute cafes and little restaurants, lit by fairy lights in the evening. George booked a dinner at our favourite restaurant on a Friday night after work and I thought nothing of it. In hindsight, I should have picked up on the fact that George wasn’t eating and acting a little strange. It made sense once we walked out of the restaurant and I turned around to see him on one knee. We then ventured to our favourite wine bar where we were greeted by all of our closest London friends.”

THE VENUE “We had seen photos of Kingsford Homestead from a friend’s wedding a few months earlier. It was the first and only place we enquired- a true Aussie wedding. The venue and the people made the whole process effortless. It was the inspiration behind our wedding- the backdrop was just beautiful- so we were lucky that we didn’t need to add much. The overall vibe of our wedding was romantic, luxe, whimsical, country and dreamy.”

FAVOURITE DETAIL “Was the logo we created for our engagement party. George is a Scorpio and I’m a Libra, and we managed to combine the two star signs to create our own. We managed to incorporate the logo into all of the graphics for the wedding.”

THE DRESS “I remember seeing Paolo Sebastian’s first show in Adelaide and I knew straight away he would design my dress. We were only going to be back in Australia for two weeks, one year before we’d be back for the wedding. I had two appointments with Paul (the designer) during this time, and then my first and final fittings were crammed into the two weeks leading up to the big day. I actually found my shoes before the dress, chose the bronze colouring in the dress to suit the shoes and incorporated a split to show them off. Paul suggested that I don’t take any photos in my fittings and as hard as that was, it was great advice, as I put complete trust in his design. It fit like a glove and was perfect!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Snuck off for a breather at about 9pm. Upon some wise advice, we sat in the field with a glass of champagne and had the chance to take the whole day in. It was an amazing and important moment.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Katie Harmsworth made us feel relaxed and comfortable, not to mention the photos she took are AMAZING! Living in London and planning a wedding wasn’t easy, but two of our good friends who started Hygge Studio were very patient and a huge help- along with the mother of the bride! We could not recommend Kingsford Homestead enough and I was lucky enough to have my uncle, Tim O’Connor design the bridesmaid dresses. He is an incredible designer in Sydney and he perfected what I had imagined.”
