Together for seven years, these two lovers “met out one night when we were 21 and haven’t left each others side since.” Their original day got bumped because of the fires, and their second, because of COVID. THE INSPO “We wanted a very laid back day about just us. We didn’t want any fuss, just simply about us and everything we had achieved together. I kept everything pretty neutral and light.”
FAVE DETAILS “We were so lucky and got a perfect Winter’s day. We had the most amazing sunset and the best photographer. It is our photos, by Fiona Vail Photography, that we will cherish forever. We thought we would get everyone together for our one year anniversary, but we were so happy with how our day was, we don’t feel like we need to do it anymore.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “My favourite moment was seeing Jake. He was very teary and it was such a special moment to see him get emotional. Hearing our vows was also very intimate as it was just us together and so special. We have such a beautiful video, sometimes I find myself just randomly watching it and it makes me happy.”
LITTLE LOL “We had kept it a secret from our family/ friends [except our parents] until the day. As I was getting ready, Jake went for a run. He was so nervous/ anxious waiting that he decided to call half of his mates in his phonebook and told them we were about to get married! He lasted so well until the day; when he told me I couldn’t help but laugh as he couldn’t last that last hour before surprising them. After our ceremony we called our families – it was so fun seeing everyones shock and happy tears as we Face Timed them in our outfits and said we were married.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Sometimes you get hung up about what everyone else wants and you forget what the day is actually about. We had so much fun together and we wouldn’t have changed a thing. How special to show our children one day that we got married during a pandemic and we still made it the most special day.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “We were so glad we just did it and got married. We were worried we would offend our families, or upset our bridal party/ friends for doing it without them. At the end of the day everyone was over the moon for us. It’s our special day and people just wanted us to be happy.”
