Picture this; Josephine thinks she’s taking Tim out for his birthday (and their anniversary) when little does she know, he’s gone and hired out the private dining room of Nobu, Perth, and pops the question with none other than a Burger Ring! “He had already asked my father for permission and had arranged for our immediate families to attend- including some flying from across the country,” explains the bride. And the ring? “It was shortly followed by a radiant cut loose diamond,” she assures us. Phew! Fast-forward 15 months and our cover couple were celebrating their big day with the lovely Alexandra Cohen on the camera…
THE VENUE “We probably spent more time searching for and choosing the venue than any other part of the planning. We originally we were looking at venues in Bali and while we found some great venues in some of the most picturesque locations, none met one of our most important requirements. We really wanted a venue where all our guests could stay on site with us over a three day period, so we brought our search back to Australia and starting looking at locations in the Margaret River wine region. Tim actually found Eight Willows Retreat and while we knew it could accommodate our guests, it wasn’t until we visited that we knew it was the one.”
THE THEME “The theme was relaxed romantic, luxe and a little bohemian. Everything that we love!”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “The venue provided the most amazing environment and being able to spend time with all our cherished friends and family was really special and something we really recommend to everyone if possible. The food was also amazing and was more a dining experience for our guests rather than the normal experience. We still have people raving about the food now. My favourite detail of the day would have to be my dress though.”
THE DRESS “My dress was custom made by J’Aton Couture. It had a high boatneck line, handmade petals and beading throughout the entire gown with a cross between a cape and loose sleeves and a ribbon cinching my waist. It was absolutely incredible, I loved every detail on it and I felt amazing in it!”
REFERENCES “I can’t tell you how many hours I spent Googling, but I found most of everything I needed from Hello May, Instagram and WedShed.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Allow yourself plenty of time to plan and set up a timeline for when things need to be done. We planned our wedding in five months and time was definitely a struggle.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Our celebrant, Married by Jorja was fantastic and just someone we really enjoyed having as part of our wedding. George and Kayleigh from Tiller Dining [formerly Food By The Chef]. The food was out of this world. More like something you get a fancy degustation restaurant. It just made the experience of taking care of our guests to another level!”
