Known to friends as “wild entertainers,” it’s no surprise that Jules and Josh met at a music festival in Melbourne and that the proposal took place under the guise of a Dan Sultan concert in the middle of Edinburgh Gardens, Melbourne. Josh- a barber, DJ and owner of The Bearded Man– is described by Jules as a “creative soul”, and thanks to her gig as a physio (who specialises in brain and spinal cord rehab, no less), you are correct in thinking these two cool cats are major overachievers. And not just in their day jobs! Shot by photographer, Jess of Brown Paper Parcel, with Jules wearing the gorgeous Karen Willis Holmesyou’ll want to scroll down for all the pics below…

THE VENUEWe tossed up a three-day festival wedding in the country vs black tie wedding in the city! Once we chose city, we knew that Fitzroy Gardens would be ideal, as it is in our hood and we have shared many fun feasts at Neighbourhood Wines. Plus the owners are legends and great to work with.”

THE THEME “Our friends and family know us as vibrant and wild entertainers. So probably dance floor glamour! Ha.”

THE DRESS “I loved my dress, especially the hand beading and plunging back. My bridesmaids came to a couple of local Melbourne designers prior. I was initially looking for two dresses. Daytime and disco dance floor night time. However then I came across Karen Willis Holmes and really loved the elegant and sexy style- plus sequins are heaven to me, so I was sold. I softened the dress by wearing an organza diamond train for the ceremony. Once evening struck the dress took a whole new glamorous shape. It was great to dance in, however, the three heavy layers were designed for the snow, not a 35-degree day!”

LITTLE LOL “Mum forgetting her underwear! The air conditioner breaking, so instead of complaining, friends drank up and performed Bikram Yoga!”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Space the Hens/ Bucks weekend from the wedding! Invest in a fabulous photographer, aka Jess from Brown Paper Parcel!”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “Extended it over three days! And took a week off straight after to hang out at the beach with friends who had travelled from overseas. Also, had the cheese wheel wedding cake- delicious and never-ending.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Alice our celebrant – AMAZING. Our photographer, Jess is awesome and such a darling. We felt so relaxed and comfortable. And Neighbourhood Wines – legends. Despite some friends calling it a Bikram wedding due to the heat!”
