Kaddy never saw herself as a “bridey bride”, so when she and David decided casually over breakfast one morning that they would get married, the planning was less about tradition and far more about having a “relaxed and easy, intimate day” with the people most important to them. “I am not really a ‘wedding’ person so we were very happy to throw any unnecessary traditions out the window,” she adds. One of our faves, Rachael Calvert Weddings was there to do the official biz and Jon Gazzignato caught it all on camera. Scroll down for more…

THE VENUE The location of Thalia Haven looked spectacular from the photos. The view overlooking Freycinet national park, the dramatic coastline and the style of the villa, as well as the size, meant that all eight of us could stay together.”

LITTLE LOLNot funny at the time but I had treated myself to a facial and had a terrible reaction, my face covered in angry red papules. Thankfully one of my friends is a dermatologist who gave some salient advice, so it had significantly improved by the wedding. However, makeup artist Sophie McDermott is some kind of wizard and managed to erase all semblance of my skin affliction!”

FAVE DEETS “I loved the fun, playful flowers by The Floral Criteria. The moody, stormy weather that afternoon, while not necessarily what you’d think of for ideal wedding weather, made for a beautiful and dramatic view over the bay and a cosy meal with a roaring fire that lasted well into the night. The food by Hubert + Dan was also absolutely spectacular.”

THE DRESS “I had been doing a leisurely internet browse for interesting, special occasion dresses that weren’t necessarily ‘wedding’ dresses when I came across Matsour’i. The dress can actually be worn a number of ways and it came with a slip dress, slip singlet, shorts, two different belts, and the voluminous petticoat (which I wore) as well as a matching face mask!”

STANDOUT VENDORSJon Gazzignato was next level. In addition to being a ridiculously talented photographer, his professionalism, experience, and attention to detail on the day were absolutely amazing. Rachael Calvert Weddings, our celebrant couldn’t have done a better job – despite having [only] met virtually a couple of times, she understood us, our journey, our personalities perfectly and incorporated those things into the ceremony. We both felt really at ease and like the ceremony was a fun journey to go on together.”
