Please meet Katie and Corey, two lovers whose New Zealand wedding has had us gushing for days!
Firstly there was the proposal – on a cliff top in the South of France as a storm rolled in over the Mediterranean ocean. Then there was the location – Waverly on Wairoa, a politely decorated venue overlooking the peaceful Wairoa River. And of course, there was Eric Ronald, one photographer so talented there are simply not enough words. Although being one of the first photographers to grace the pages of Hello May, you may recognise his work from these weddings here, here and here.
Juz Catering did an amazing job of feeding their guests while Katie did an equally great job of sourcing a perfectly pretty dress online. “I worked for a fabric wholesaler in Sydney a few years back, and Lover was one of our clients. Since then, I have always admired their style… I was so lucky that it fit beautifully, it was definitely love at first site”, says Katie.
It’s no surprise to us that they both struggled to decide on a favourite moment, although we love their beautifully styled ceremony by On My Hand underneath that leafy arbour. “There were so many favourite moments, but definitely involving some of the special people in our lives was definitely a highlight. Our good friend Sharn married us and another friend sung me down the aisle. He also did a sneaky set during the reception. Most of our friends had travelled from overseas, so there was lots of hugs and laughter. We were overwhelmed by the love”, says Katie who was later whisked away by her hubby in one of his Grandad’s awesome vintage cars.
To remember their day they asked each guest to bring along a piece of fabric for Katie to sew into a patchwork quilt. “I am now in the process of making a patchwork quilt which will act as a very cool way of remembering all the amazing guests that shared our day”, she says. What a kickass idea from such a cool couple!
