Lads and ladies pay attention because this is how it’s done. After a chance meeting five years earlier, Simon proposed to Katie in the garden of their Italian Air BnB overlooking the cliffs of Cinque Terre. One divine sunset and a few mimosas later and these two had decided on a destination wedding in Bali. With help from The Bridal Atelier, Katie walked down the aisle in the boho gown of her dreams whilst Shane Shepheard Photography and Light Noise Films were there to immortalise the spesh memories. Now quick! Scroll down for the goods…

THE VENUE “I flew to Bali a month after we were engaged to view a few villas. We knew we wanted something with a tropical feel and ideally overlooking or near rice paddies. When I stepped into Chalina Estate I just knew it was the one, it felt like heaven on earth.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “I loved the wedding arbour, it was just off the charts and exactly how I imagined it, the perfect place to declare our love under! We also had a coconut cart which served coconut drinks to our guests after the ceremony. Our 2 daughters said their highlight was the Gelato Cart, they couldn’t believe you could get as much ice cream as you wanted!

THE DRESS “I brought all my bridesmaids to The Bridal Atelier in Melbourne (most of us flew from Townsville) and we gazed at all these beautiful gowns. I choose about five to try but I always knew the Beau Gown by Rue De Seine was going to be the one so I tried that one on last and as soon as it was on I never wanted to take it off! The process was so easy because I just knew all along which one I had my heart set on.”

LITTLE LOL “We had organised a driver to pick up all our bridesmaids and groomsmen and bring them out to Canggu. One of our groomsmen who was waiting outside his hotel was ushered into a vehicle by a Balinese man, he was then driven and dropped at a kids birthday party. Due to the slight language barrier, he had gotten into the wrong car!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Shane Shepherd and our videographer Bree from Light Noise Films. Both these guys travelled all the way from Australia to be there for our big day. Special mention to Bree who came rather last minute and made it happen for us. Shane also did a second shoot for us two days after the wedding, as we had a super late ceremony we only had a small window of time to get portrait photos before it was dark so we are forever grateful for Shane spending the extra time to do our second shoot.”
