A surprise birthday proposal was followed by a nine-month engagement, “the longest nine months of my life,” says Kelli,”I just couldn’t wait to be married.” When the day finally rolled around, Kelli and Matt became Mr and Mrs at a picturesque winery set in the gorgeous Goldie hinterland, and one of our fave lens ladies in all the land, George Bowden, was there to capture the magic. Scroll down for the goods…

THE VIBE “Matt and I are pretty laid-back people and we wanted our day to reflect that. We went with a rustic vibe because it’s pretty relaxed and we wanted our guests to feel that on the day. We aren’t into glitz and glam – so we pared it back and kept it pretty simple.”

DIY “I designed our invitations for the wedding, which was a lot of fun! We also hand-wrote notes for our guests. They took a while to make! But turned out great. In the lead up to the wedding, it was really nice to be reflecting on why each person was so important to us.”

WE’RE GLAD WE...”Hired  musicians – they are the best! We were spoilt with the quality of our musos. Matt’s uncle Michael Geeves played a set for us during our afternoon tea post-ceremony and we had Chris Palmer Music play at our reception. Both were so great – can’t recommend them enough.”

LITTLE LOL “It was funny to watch the guests that were driving in behind the limo panicking that they were late. When, actually, it was just the first time ever that I was on time for something. I literally saw people jump out of their cars and run inside.”

REFERENCES “I definitely got a lot of inspo from Hello May! And we’re very lucky to have a lot of talented friends in the wedding industry and family with lots of connections.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “I’d recommend having an extra day after the wedding to just hang out with each other at a hotel or something before you jet off on a honeymoon (if you’re doing that). We were so tired the night of our wedding and flew out the next morning. It all worked out okay, but would have been nicer if we had more downtime to relax.”
