This mum of six (!) and her cabinet maker hubby have been together for 22 months and hilariously Tim proposed by giving his bride a ring on her mobile, rather than a ring on her finger! “We were lying in bed, my phone rings and Timmy’s name appears. I look at him as if to say, ‘Are you for real?’ He says to me, ‘I can’t afford to buy you a ring right now so I thought I’d give you a ring to ask will you marry me?’ I still can’t believe he proposed like that!” On the day, some of our faves were there, with Miss Ladybirds Cakes doing the tasty tiered number and Georgia Verrells Photography taking the pics. THE VENUEIris Park Garden Weddings was the first and only place we looked at. The minute I stepped foot onto the property I was overwhelmed by the profound sense of peace I felt. It truly is the most peaceful and serene place like walking into a zen bubble. Our reception was at Mercetta, which is a cafe in Mornington that Timmy and I frequent and where we love the vibe and the vision I had for our wedding style wise was going to work perfectly there.”

THE VIBE “The inspiration for our day was to bring two families of offspring together so we wanted something laid back and carefree – a bit Gypsy like, kind of like me really!! Our theme was Boho Luxe with a touch of Morocco. We had authentic Moroccan rugs and floor cushions. For the Boho part there was specially made dream catchers, peacock chairs, lanterns, Indian grinder tables, a naked teepee.”

FAVOURITE DETAILSThe dream catchers that hung on a branch and blew in the wind just to the left of the alter (made by Kathleen Odwyer). The beautiful macrame piece (made by Gabby from Family Threads). The beautiful rattan bar cart with positively charged and botanically infused sparkling water for each guest at the ceremony from Osun Sparkling. The dessert buffet by Sweet Bakes with all our favourite treats, perfectly accompanied by our three-tier cake made by Miss Ladybirds Cakes.”

THE DRESSI saw it on Instagram and knew straight away that it was the only dress I wanted. I talked to a local seamstress about re-creating it but she couldn’t find any material I was happy with and I just don’t think we were the right fit. Four months out from the wedding, I went out on a limb and contacted the designer Katelyn Donald from Kate Willa directly – she was thrilled to make it for me. She is based in Byron Bay so I sent her my measurements and then flew up there six weeks before the wedding for a fitting. She was lovely and I was so glad I followed my gut.”

LITTLE LOLGoing to the Alpaca farm, Pitchingga Ridge Alpacas to have our photos done with limited time, dodging the poop, hoping my dress wouldn’t drag in it and squealing as I ran through the paddock. Dealing with the temperamental alpacas was pretty funny, they are quite stubborn and really don’t like to be told what to do – they were trying to eat my flowers, turning their bums to the camera – it was a job trying to get a good shot but Georgia Verrells Photography got some great shots.”

WE WISH WE… “Our only regret was not having the day captured on video. I knew this would be a huge mistake and it was.”

STANDOUT VENDORSI had THE BEST vendors – I could not fault any of them and having used a lot of them before, I knew they were the best for exactly what we wanted to achieve. Emma Tomlinson Civil Celebrant is absolutely fantastic. Georgia Verrells Photography was great, fun and funny, easy going and was happy to step outside the box – ie. the alpacas. Awesome job. Poppy Culture knew how to create my vision and adapted my styling requests appropriately, were easy going and efficient. We absolutely loved our cake from Miss Ladybirds Cakes – our sample tester box was so much more than I expected, the way they present it is absolutely beautiful. Sweet Bakes, Pink Gloss Hair & Make-up, Lucas from Image Hair and Ian Rickard Music.”
