Nature lovers Kristie and Erik have been together for seven years and we are feeling their loved up vibes. The ultra-romantic proposal took place mid Cradle Mountain Hike. Erik pulled out a ring, dropped a knee in the snow and his gal said yes, obvs. With a host of fab vendors on board, the duo managed to pull off a doozy. Our faves Married By Candice and Ben Sowry Photo were in attendance. Scroll down for snaps…

LITTLE LOL “Kristie’s dad invested his contribution to our wedding into cryptocurrency with little to no idea what he was doing. He lost most of it. Haha. Also, one of the bridesmaids threw her bra on stage when her husband was performing ‘You’re The Voice’ for karaoke.”

THE VENUE “We have spent quite a bit of time in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and had a clear idea of what kind of wedding we wanted. We wanted a homestead-looking venue that we could have both the ceremony and reception at. We loved the fact that we could have a bonfire there and that there wasn’t any strict curfew. When we inquired about the hall [Obi Obi Community Hall], it was unavailable for a month either side of the time we were planning on getting married. However, a couple of weeks later, the very date we were looking at opened up and we took that as a sign that it was meant to be.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Everything was pretty exquisite. The food was delish, the staff from Something for Catering were so lovely- they even ended up on the dance floor for a song or two. The flowers [Willow Bud Flowers] were also so beautiful that I found myself crying when I got a visual on them. The crown made me feel like an ethereal woodland queen.”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “The moment after the ceremony finished and everyone was congratulating us. It was relief, pride and elation all at once. Other than that mine it would have to be when DJ Jason went from the first dance song to ‘Shooting Stars’ by Bag Raiders and the wedding went from civilised to lit. I have to say another moment is when our incredibly humble and talented photographer Ben Sowry carried us (yes both of us) across the water for this ridiculously amazing shot. Holy mack what a cool human.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “We found that having an 18-month engagement provided adequate time to organise and pay for everything without stressing too much about money or time. We also found that having 45 people was a good size, it was still a big party but didn’t lose its intimacy. A good photographer (the best in our case) and celebrant help make the day.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We only invited people we both know as we didn’t want to be meeting strangers for the first time at the end of the aisle. It was hard to tell some people that they weren’t invited or weren’t able to bring their partner but it made for the tightest knit bunch of family and friends on the day.”
