It’s not just the sweet whitewashed chapel that has us swooning over this wedding guys. Meet Lauren and Damon – these two cuties have been besties since they were 15. Despite living in Brisbane, they decided to have their wedding on the Mornington Peninsula as once they discovered Tanglewood Estate they knew there was “really nowhere else like it”. Enlisting a whole host of Hello May Vendors (say hello Sparklers & Confetti, The White Tree, Kate Morgan) the couple opted for a classic romantic wedding vibe and tied the knot after a two-year engagement. Lens lady Ali Bailey and cinematographer legend Nathan Kaso were there to make sure Lauren and Damon’s big day was captured from every angle. Scroll down for the details…

THE VENUE “We actually booked Tanglewood unseen and hadn’t looked at any other venues. I started searching pretty shortly after we were engaged for wedding venues all over Australia. Once I’d scoured the internet looking at just about every photo/video of Tanglewood ever taken I just knew it would be perfect. We went to look at it about 6 months later and it was more perfect than we could have imagined.”

THE DRESS “I had tried on quite a few dresses before finding my dress but nothing had felt like ‘the one’- to be honest I wasn’t even really sure what I wanted my dress to look like. I was starting to think that I would probably have to get something custom-made (I’m pretty fussy) and even had an appointment booked to get the process started. We decided to go to White Lily Couture first for one last look and my Mum actually saw Maddie on the rack and insisted I try it on despite me not being convinced. Once I had it on and stepped out from behind the curtain, my Mum, sister & our lovely shop assistant were all in tears instantly and I knew then that I had absolutely found ‘the one’.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “Goodness, so hard to choose. I think the flowers that framed the chapel for the ceremony were pretty incredible – I feel like for me that’s become the iconic image in my mind of our wedding. One of the best parts of having a stylist and planner was that we didnt 100% know what things would look like until we saw them for the first time on the day with everyone else. We put a lot of trust in our vendors and they exceeded our expectations in every way.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Stepping outside just the two of us during the reception to have some photos taken. We walked out to the most incredible sunset over the gorgeous heart-shaped lake at Tanglewood. We got into a wooden rowboat decorated with flowers and rowed out to the middle of the lake. It made for some of our favourite photos, but it was also just so special to have the time out for the two of us.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “I can’t recommend having a wedding planner highly enough if it’s an option in your budget. Laura [Wanderlust Creative] was the most incredible person to have walk us through the process and our day wouldn’t have been what it was without her. As cliché as it sounds, just know that you’re never going to be able to please everyone, and at the end of the day what matters is that you and your fiancé have the day that you want and that makes you happy.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Genuinely our vendors were all amazing. I’ve gushed about Laura [Wanderlust Creative] already so you know my thoughts on her, but on the day having Ali Bailey & Nathan Kaso there was literally like having two friends hanging out with us on the day. They were relaxed, professional, so much fun and made us feel like we were absolutely nailing the whole photoshoot thing! Also, Provider on the catering was beyond brilliant, they totally guided us through menu choices, made epic suggestions that turned out better than anything we could have thought and delivered absolutely perfect food (and cake!).”
