Stop what you’re doing, ‘cause this love story is crazy – in the very best way, of course. “We started dating right before the first lockdown in 2020 and moved in together two weeks into dating,” explains the girls. “Talk about a COVID romance!” Seriously! THE VENUE “Mostly we chose Rupert on Rupert because it’s pretty. But also, after booking we found out the writing of the word ‘Yes’ in different languages around the windows of the venue was done when marriage equality passed which is SO wholesome and made us love the venue even more. Katie from Rupert really sealed the deal and was an incredible help leading up to and on the day.”
THE INSPO “We wanted the day to feel like an authentic representation of us. Our celebrant, Celebrate with Liz, was really great at making sure we didn’t have traditions just for the sake of it, and did things that rang true to us. We wanted the overall feel of the day to be bright, fun – a big celebration but also meaningful and intimate. We trusted our vendors and let them have creative freedom over the feel of the day. I didn’t want to over-manage my own wedding!”
THE DRESS “We wanted to go dress shopping together because each other’s opinion is the one we value the most and we wanted to share the experience together. We tried on 150+ dresses between us! We ended up getting our dresses from SoHo Bride in Geelong and Jessie executed them to perfection! She was also so amazing to work with and always had the champagne stocked for our appointments!”
REFERENCES “I sourced every Hello May magazine I could and did some DEEP reading to find inspo and vendors! We found Jackson Grant Weddings in these very pages. I was also very lucky that our florist, stationary designer and DJ are friends I’ve known for years and are all incredible female-run businesses.”
CUTE CUSTOM “My mum passed away in early 2020 so in her memory, we donated to Bowel Cancer Australia (instead of doing a wedding favour). Heck Ya! Studio included a beautiful mention of this on the back of the place cards for our guests.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Pick vendors you love and click with and everything will flow from there. Also, don’t be afraid to get rid of traditional wedding elements that don’t mean anything to you.”
