“Moody vintage” was the theme for Liv and Glenn’s nups, which took place at a cocktail bar in the heart of Fitzroy. After eight years together, Liv, who works in marketing, and Glenn, a tattooist, tell us, “We already felt married before we officially were because the commitment had been there for years. But it just felt like the right time to get our loved ones together to kick up their heels and celebrate our love for each other.” Scroll down for the beautiful Kyra Boyer Photography’s loved-up captures and more cosy details from this special day…

THE DRESS “I had planned to wear a silk suit, but my mum and mother-in-law wanted me to try on some dresses. I had spent countless hours searching for a wedding dress that felt like me and then found this one at Moonstruck Bride. I instantly knew it was the one.”

FAVE DEETS “Our invitations are really special because Glenn designed them. The flowers were one of my absolute favourites, most of the types of flowers were also in my mum and nana’s wedding bouquets. I’m also a big flower person and always have fresh flowers either from the garden, my mum’s garden or from my local florist Flowers by Melissa Jane, who did my wedding flowers, in our house. The cake from Miss Trixie Drinks Tea tied in perfectly to our theme and was a real showstopper. It wasn’t just about the looks, it tasted finger licking good too.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Before our ceremony, we’d met at our house for photos [with our photographer Kyra Boyer] with our sisters and a few of our best friends. We have a large friendship group and didn’t want them all at the house at once but it was important for us to have them all involved. So we could have an intimate moment with them, we split them up into smaller groups and gave them a different location all walking distance from the venue. It was like a photo scavenger hunt. At the end, we all met at the venue with immediate family, got group photos and had a toast with our absolute nearest and dearest before the ceremony.”

LITTLE LOL “We got married on the first of April so we told our celebrant that we wanted to play an April Fools’ joke on our guests. We’re not the type to do a first dance (hence why our first dance was the Nutbush with everyone), but we made it look like we were going to perform, then called out ‘April Fools’.”

A WORD OF ADVICE… “Start with a theme/style. Once you have that sorted, it guides all of your decisions. And remember, it’s your day so do what you want.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “All of our vendors went above and beyond. Our incredible celebrant/MC/DJ Renee The Celebrant brought the house down and was a one-woman show. She held our hands through the whole process. The day couldn’t have been captured any better by our beautiful photographer, Kyra Boyer, who was so helpful and shared lots of advice and recommendations.”
