Both dietitians, Maggie and Matt met while studying at the uni library. Six years on, they are now Mr and Mrs after hosting their wedding reception at Sunnybrae Estate in the heart of Adelaide, and both agree it was by far their fave part of the day. “It was so special to have everyone we love in one room celebrating with us. We also had a blast on the dancefloor, especially getting to enjoy music and dances from both Italian and South African backgrounds.” Jacob Jennings was there to capture all the magic. THE DRESS “My dress was from Jane Hill, bought at Imagine Bridal in Adelaide. It was a trunk show and I just wanted to try some of these dresses on. We came from another bridal store where my top rated dress was the complete opposite of the one I chose – big skirt, embroidery, and glitter. I really struggled making the choice between the two as it impacted the rest of the aesthetic of the wedding. I thought ‘this is a once in a lifetime event, maybe I should go for something extreme, something I wouldn’t normally go for’. I am so so happy I went with the simple dress. When I think about my everyday life and what I am comfortable in, it suited me perfectly – I wore the dress and it highlighted me, the dress didn’t wear me.”

THE SUIT “My suit shopping experience was pretty simple. I liked the suit my brother in law wore on his wedding day so I went with the same place; Oscar Hunt. They were very helpful in providing advice about fabric types and styles. My suit turned out great.”

DIY “We did all the invitations ourselves, from the design to getting them printed, to putting it all together. We loved the way they turned out! It also allowed us to make the name cards and menus using the same fonts and images for a very cohesive look. We also decided to DIY the flowers. This definitely wasn’t what we initially planned, but we stumbled across some really nice fake flowers while we were browsing on Etsy. Originally we just wanted bunches in vases and had all the stuff to do this, but decided against it last minute and did arrangements instead. We won’t pretend like it was easy (eight straight hours of work) but the outcome was how we pictured it and everything looked really nice together.”

FAVE DEETS “Throughout our relationship we have always referred to ourselves as M+M. We used this on our Save the Date cards. To keep it going we also had this engraved on the inside of both our rings and Matt had it embroidered in his suit jacket.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “This seems pretty obvious but our photographer Jacob Jennings killed it. We loved how chilled out he was on the day. He kept in mind things that were important to us but also was creative and gave us some amazing photos.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “We had many guests from an Italian background and some from a South African background so we tried to include things (not necessarily traditions) from both sides. In specific, we chose music and line dances from both cultures which was super fun.”
