These two cool cats are wedding videographers, “we have seen a lot of weddings, over 250 between us!” So were keen to create a “totally unique wedding” for themselves, explains the bride, who wore one of our favourite designers, Rue De Seine from Fremantle bridal boutique, Through the White Door. Bali holds a special place in the couple’s heart (as well as being where they got engaged), so the wedding was held on an island off Lombok and lensed by Jeremy Tan. THE VENUEOn the same trip that Duane proposed to me, we also explored some of the surrounding islands of Bali and Lombok. We fell in love with the island of Gili Asahan when the boat we were sailing on unexpectedly docked there for a night. It had the most magic feel; crystal blue water, coral reef right out front and fresh coconuts everywhere. The Gili Asahan Eco Lodge & Restaurant is made completely from reclaimed and local materials, yet still feels like luxury camping and randomly served some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten.”

THE DRESSI have always been obsessed with Rue De Seine’s designs and the overall boho luxury vibe. I always wanted a unique wedding dress and once I saw the Indigo Star dress I knew I had to have it. It felt flowy and fun but had such a nice, flattering silhouette. Some chunky white galaxy boots from Betts completed the look. One of my guests commented I looked like David Bowie meets Agentha Faltskog (from ABBA) and it was probably the best compliment I could have gotten!”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The weekend was centred around our two Schooners (pirate boats) which were moored just off the beach, and did regular trips for snorkelling and exploring the surrounding islands. The island and Eco Lodge were so beautiful, we didn’t feel like we needed to add much more in terms of decoration. We purchased some lights from ebay and some galaxy themed decorations from Urban Outfitters. The ceremony was simply some palm fronds we found ten minutes before the ceremony started. We didn’t have a cake but opted for freshly made donuts instead.”

WE’RE GLAD WE “We made a schedule for the entire weekend including some fun events like ‘coconut olympics’ and plenty of snorkelling and kayaking trips. Our guests commented that they loved having everything so planned out for them, and that it kept everyone hanging out together rather than going off and doing their own things.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “When it comes to destination weddings we highly recommend having vendors that you would want to party with! Nat from The Auburn Hour Film Co. had such a great presence the entire weekend. We hardly even noticed her filming and couldn’t believe the moments she captured when we saw the final film. Both our families commented on how lovely she was and she has now become one of our good friends. Jeremy Tan, our photographer, shot the entire wedding in a really candid way which meant there was no pressure for us to perform or pose.”
