These two creative cats, Mel, and interior designer, and Adam, a professional dancer, were married on their 14-year anniversary, after first getting together in high school. And they had a specific vibe when planning their gorg day. “We wanted it to feel inviting and intimate, while being clean and minimal,” they tell us. “We wanted it to be timeless while being an expression of our styles.”

Mel walked down the aisle in a stunning Karen Willis Holmes gown, and Fourside Food Design + Events took care of the sit-down dinner. Add the talented Jess from Brown Paper Parcel on photos and you can see why this was a wedding we simply had to show you guys. Scroll down for more…

THE DRESS “It is from the amazing Karen Willis Holmes. I was set on another dress from another boutique, but KWH was still on my mind and I needed to be 100 per cent sure I was going with the first dress. My mum and my sister went with me to Karen Willis Holmes just to ‘try on’ a dress so I could sleep knowing I went through all the options. My mum looked around and picked up a bodice and skirt combo. We went through all the other options and as soon as I put on what my mum picked I knew, it was THE dress.”

LITTLE LOL “Adam surprised me with a flash mob dance with his dad, his mum and his sister. Adam sat me down on a chair and started dancing to the whole room. Slowly one by one, his dad, his sister and his mum popped up and joined him! The whole room was cheering them on! It was so heartwarming and filled the room with joy.”

DIYWe did quite a bit of DIY – our invites, menus and detail cards were custom made by us. The mirror signage and seating chart. Wedding favours were all hand-drawn by my sister and written on by me.”

A TOUCH OF TRADITION “Both Adam and I are Malaysian Chinese and  it was only fitting that we incorporate some of our tradition into our wedding. We performed a tea ceremony where we the couple served tea to all the elders in our family from our grandparents all the way to our older siblings. In exchange they would gift us with heirlooms, jewellery and ang paos (Chinese red envelopes). It was a beautiful moment to spend with each one of them and share some advice and well wishes.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Jess from Brown Paper Parcel. We absolutely adored her work from the start and she was a dream to work with on the day. She made us feel so comfortable, captured so many moments we weren’t there for and was able to capture natural and candid memories, we can look back on for many years to come.”
