Melanie and Harrison (or Mel and Harry to their friends) met eight years before they got engaged, at a beachside camping trip with mates. “We started dating after that weekend,” Mel tells us, and Harry took her back to that same spot to pop the question. “The day he proposed was so windy, and I was trying to tell him we should just go camping elsewhere out of the wind. But he was adamant to find a protected spot to watch the sunset. He then proposed on the beach, with our dog there with us and it was perfect.”

A year on, these folks had the dreamiest of big days at Mel’s family property in Quindalup, her in a custom-designed two-piece, him in a green M.J. Bale suit (tbh we love a coloured groom’s ‘fit). Lewis French popped in with some made camera skills to document the day and make those mems to last a lifetime!

THE VENUE “We had always wanted to get married in the backyard of my family holiday house in Quindalup, WA. I have been holidaying in this house with my family since I was born and it holds so many beautiful memories for us all. Harry thinks it was very sentimental having it there as we will one day bring our own kids to this house for holidays.”

FAVE DETAILSOur amazingly talented friend (Meka Build) built our shot wall seating chart. This was such a fun way for guests to find their table and they got to enjoy a limoncello shot at the same time. I also loved the oyster bar at the post-ceremony drinks and knew this would be a crowd pleaser with our guests.

THE SUITI told Mel I wanted a green suit as it’s my favourite colour. Mel then found the suits at M.J. Bale. I tried it on once and settled on it there and then. M.J. Bale were great and made the whole experience for me and my groomsmen really easy.”

COOL CUSTOMSadly, my cousin passed away two years prior to our wedding and my aunty gifted me a piece of one of his blue shirts with a message embroidered on it, which I wrapped around my bouquet as  ‘something blue’. This was super special.”

WORD OF ADVICE…Think about five things that you definitely want on the day, plan these well and everything else will slot in around it. Also, have someone there to coordinate the day to save yourselves any stress – this was a game changer for us.”
