Keen on a classy wedding but with all the fun, too? Make like Mikaela and Tom and get married in a vineyard (with Euro vibes to boot), dress accordingly (like Tom in Oscar Hunt Tailors – both bride and groom, complete with Grew & Co rings) and add a silent disco. Yep, you read that correctly… a silent disco, along with live music from none other than The White Tree and one of HM’s faves, who also brings the fun, Scott Surplice Photography on pics. Phew! What a good bunch. Scroll down for all the inspo…

THE VENUE “Redleaf Wollombi was the 16th venue we saw! I was so indecisive, and had exhausted Tom and our parents with countless trips around the state to look at venues. Thankfully, we loved Redleaf from the moment we drove onto the property, which is full of amazing spots that can be used for different parts of the day. In addition to how beautiful it is, we loved that you had the venue for four nights – the day after the wedding hanging by the pool with the bridal party was a highlight. Tom also LOVED that the owner suggested doing a silent disco after the noise curfew and that one of our favourite restaurants Bistro Molines exclusively caters weddings there. What ultimately made me confident that Redleaf was the right venue was seeing owner Matt’s  attention to detail. This TLC turned out to be very important as despite the heavy rain, which had cut off the roads around the venue two weeks before our wedding (with the SES evacuating people by boat!), Redleaf was in absolute perfect condition on the big day.”

THE INSPO “The theme was inspired by the venue, which has a very la dolce vita vibe. Our food was country French-style; we had limoncello, which my mum made from scratch, on the tables; our florist incorporated lemons and grapes into the table arrangements and our colour scheme was lemon, blue and white. We also encouraged guests to add a touch of colour to their outfits. Everyone really dressed the part… we even had a guest in an aqua suit!”

FAVE DEETS “We had a trumpeter as part of the band [we booked through The White Tree] and he had the most amazing energy, which really took the evening to another level. We had a last-minute idea to get the trumpeter to guide the guests from the ceremony to cocktail hour and down to the reception like the pied piper. He was a real showman and absolutely embraced it. Everyone loved it!”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Our photographer Scott Surplice – what can we say, he is a legend. Scott’s photos stood out to us because of how natural and fun they were. On the day, Scott was so calm, fun to be around and even agreed to stay on an extra hour as the dancefloor was going off and we wanted to capture it – we are so glad he did.”

MEMORABLE MOMENTS “The whole day it had been raining but about an hour before the ceremony, the rain stopped and our florist Emily and on-the-day organiser, Kate, rushed to set everything up. When I walked down the aisle, the weather was still moody but it made the moment so emotional. Then, right before we said our vows, the sun came out and there was literally a rainbow passing through the ceremony. It was magical. Another great moment was seeing our grandparents on the dancefloor. My grandfather is 95 and danced for most of the night with Tom’s 80-plus-year-old grandparents, who were loving the silent disco. Tom’s mum had to drag them off the dancefloor so they didn’t miss the bus home after midnight!”
