For Mikaeli and Peter, who wed in the yard of the bride’s family home in April 2022, “marriage lets you annoy one special person for the rest of your life”. Ha! We love that, and the intention behind their big day: “We wanted to create an intimate and relaxed day with some very special people. It was a very powerful feeling for me and Peter to exchange lifelong vows on the grounds where we have experienced some of life’s most significant moments and where so many family memories have been made.”

The lovely Taylor Kezia Photography was there to make sure that every moment was caught on film, from the bride’s two beautiful gowns (both of which our friends at White Lily Couture helped Mikaeli pick) to the cocktail van parked up on the front lawn dolling out refreshments. At the end of the day, they nailed the whole “garden party glamour” vibe they were going for – scroll on for stacks of inspo!

FAVE DETAILSThe flowers! Wow! My sister (Courtney Browning) owns Flower du Jour and she did all our florals. I was really worried about what flowers we would be able to have because of all the weather and rain events leading up to our big day. They were truly amazing! She outdid herself.”

THE DRESSWhite Lily Couture was the third bridal boutique I visited. I was going to try on a specific dress, which ended up being my ceremony dress. I only tried on four dresses and I ended up purchasing two of them. I did a change for the reception. Milly was my consultant and she was incredible. She made all of us cry –happy tears of course!”

DIYI made the personalised love heart that was floating in the pool. My sister actually found the inspiration on Pinterest. I purchased the polystyrene love heart from Koch & Co. The team at Bunnings mentioned that I should seal the heart prior to spray painting it pink to protect it and to stop paint leaking into the pool. I then purchased the 3D personalised name from Avrelle Custome Signs on Etsy, which I stuck onto the love heart with double-sided sticky tape.”

WORD OF ADVICE…I think if you’re planning on hosting a wedding on private property, just remember there are a lot of extra details that you just don’t think of until you’re really in the midst of organising. It was a big undertaking, especially with a newborn, but gosh it was a dream to see our wedding all come together.”

STANDOUT VENDORSOur photographer, Taylor Kezia. I cannot get over how beautiful the photos are. We both don’t love being in front of a camera but she made us feel so comfortable. She didn’t miss any moments and I keep going back into the album and finding new photos that I fall in love with.”
