Rach and Dave’s love story is a good one, guys – they met online during the heights of the pandemic, but the Victoria/Tasmania border closures meant they had six months of FaceTime dating before locking eyes on each other IRL. When the Melbourne meet-up finally happened they knew “the wait had been worth it”. Two years later, a very funny proposal followed, during which Dave sang Rach James Blunt’s You’re Beautiful, replacing all the words with “hilarious” lyrics about their love story: “It had me in STITCHES! I don’t think you are supposed to laugh as much as I did in such a sentimental moment,” says Rach.
Twelve months after that, these cuties became Mr and Mrs with the help of Tassie’s best event planner and stylist, the lovely Gee from Dear Leone, also enlisting our mates at Off The Hook to bring the audio guest book good times. THE INSPO “Being a creative I could have taken our wedding day in so many crazy directions, but I decided to remain quite classic with little artistic moments. Roses played a huge theme in the day. From the lace in my Pallas gown to the florals and custom jewellery I designed. My middle name is Rose and I knew my jewellery would become a campaign launch at Francesca and so ‘La Vie En Rose” became the theme for my day. Translated to ‘see the world through rose coloured glasses’ its a reminder of the feeling when you first fall in love.”
THE DRESS “I designed my dress alongside the amazing team at Pallas Couture and they were incredible! I was initially so nervous because when you’re designing a bespoke gown you have no real idea of how it will turn out until the last hour. The team at Pallas however gave me full confidence that they would execute my dream gown. I always envisioned myself in a simple slip dress so you can imagine my confusion when I was standing in the Pallas fitting room in full princess mode loving it. I knew it would be the one chance to really have a moment in a dress like that in my life so I took it. I wanted the dress to still show my edgy side as I am not typically too girly, and the sheer bodice and skirt gave it the fun I needed.”
DIY “I collaborated with my cousin Jai with the tablecloth concept. I knew I wanted to feature his artwork whether it be across my signage or small details. When planning the wedding with Gelissa [Dear Leone], my stylist, I played early on with the idea of a wild tablecloth. It was delivered by my cousin on the day of the wedding in true Jai-style.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “Dancing with all 120 guests from the grazing cocktail hour at the top of the botanical gardens all the way down to our marquee. This was led by the incredible sax player Gus and boosted our evening into full on party mode.”
