You guys, we really like Ruth and Evan. Together for 10 years after meeting on the island of Koh Rong in Cambodia back in 2013, they started dating, before Evan (an Aussie) moved to Ruth’s native England so they could officially be together. After a few years in the UK, the pair relocated to Perth, got engaged with a Black Finch Jewellery sparkler, and then threw a bloody good party at the fab Guildhall in North Fremantle to celebrate their love. When asked what marriage means, they had this to say, “We were happily unmarried and we are very happily married, so I guess, in reality, our view is that marriage is the chance to have the best party of your entire life (which we absolutely nailed) followed by a lifetime with your best friend.” Amen to that. Thankfully for us (and you), they had the legendary Kitty Loves Love along for the ride to capture all the mems. Scroll down to see…

THE THEME “Our wedding invite said ‘Dress for a party’ because we just wanted everyone to come and enjoy themselves, feel comfortable and have a great evening. We had our ceremony lead straight into the reception in the same venue for this same reason. It was so important for us to make the day ours.”

THE BRIDAL LOOK “I was so lucky that my mum could make my outfit. I drew ideas of what I wanted, got some inspiration from a lot of designers and Mum and I had lots of back-and-forth brainstorming sessions and conversations all from the other side of the world (where she lives in England).  I couldn’t have been happier with my final outfit. I was always nervous about this side of the wedding. But my mum made it so perfectly that I was able to feel so comfortable. She’ll never tell me how long it took, but I have no doubt that it was an absurd amount of time. Side note: She also designed and made her own dress and my sister’s dress for the day!”

STANDOUT VENDORI actually met Kitty, our photographer, on a photography workshop some years back and have followed her on Instagram ever since. Whenever I saw Kitty’s work I was so impressed with how you could literally feel the joy jumping out of the screen. Her talent to capture the moment was what made her the one for us.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “Taking photos beforehand was so perfect for us. Wandering around Fremantle and getting a drink was lovely. Kitty made us feel so at ease. Probably the moment that will go down in memory as being really unforgettably special is the Father of the Bride speech. He was so nervous about delivering it but hit every element of an incredible wedding speech and had the whole crowd in tears by the end. We’re all so proud of him and so grateful to both him, and the father of the groom for speaking so well on our special day.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “We hired camcorders from At The Beep and we bought disposable cameras and had our MC encourage our guests to use them throughout the night, then leave them on a table for someone else to pick up and use. They turned out to be the most invaluable investment because the moments they’ve picked up are some of the greatest memories we have from our day.”
