Sally and Jacob’s big day was both a celebration of their union and a love letter to their nearest and dearest. They set the tone with a gorgeous garden ceremony that was both chic and homely, “We wanted a venue that was warm, welcoming and relaxed, so what [better spot] than your parent’s garden?” The party then sailed over to Perth’s Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club where each guest was greeted with a personal photo at their place setting, honouring their one-of-a-kind connection with the couple – cute! THE PROPOSAL “Jacob conned me into booking a staycation even though I wasn’t keen. Turns out, I forgot I had one of my best friend’s hens’ that weekend and had double booked. When I told him we had to cancel I now realise why he was irrationally upset with my double booking. We ended up going to Crown for just one night instead on Sunday, as he was adamant he wanted to stay there. While getting ready for dinner, I didn’t notice Jacob on edge, but on reflection, it was quite funny. He was waiting for a bottle of champagne to arrive for two hours and we got everything but champagne – complimentary water, then beer, then chocolates and then it got to the point where Jacob just dropped a knee as he couldn’t wait. The champagne finally arrived, and we polished that back before heading down to dinner. On the way, he suggested we stop for a drink at the bar, and I was pleasantly surprised to see both of our parents there. It was so special sharing that moment with them before the two of us went off to a beautiful dinner together.”
FAVE DETAILS “Definitely the flowers [Signature Floral Design] – walking into the reception was incredible, seeing the vision come together. Vegemite Shapes – if you come to our house, we always have them, so we had big buckets of mini packets for people to have on the bus between the ceremony and reception. When you arrived at the ceremony, everyone was welcomed with a drink – creating the relaxed garden aspect from the start. Under everyone’s place setting, we had chosen a photo of one us with them. It was a nice way of making our guests feel special and opening up conversations on the table.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “The ceremony was amazing for obvious reasons, but it was pretty special to welcome people into Sally’s parents’ house with a drink in what was a really relaxed environment. The other highlight was the speeches. Everyone spoke beautifully – we always chat about how memorable that part of the night was.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “My mum! She went above and beyond – our garden isn’t reticulated, so she spent the whole of summer getting up at 4 or 5am to spend a couple of hours hand-watering. Sam, Ben and Ebony (our photographers and videographers) were absolutely sensational. They made us feel so comfortable and were so helpful and organised keeping us on schedule.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Enjoy the day because it goes fast. Unfortunately, you can’t control time! But because of this, we are so pleased we got a video – we can relive it again and again!”
