From the fun lighting by Festoon to the phenom styling (courtesy of Butcher Baker Stylist Creator), we’re loving everything about this wedding. And so did the couple in question, Sarah and Marc. “You can tell from the photos [snapped by the amazing Alexandra Cohen] that I was absolutely blown away when walking into both our ceremony and reception by how beautiful they were,” the bride tells us.

Sarah’s maids wore white, completing the sleek, chic, modern theme, while Marc’s groomsmen were stylish as heck in some classic M.J. Bale – though the bride’s brother nearly made a mess of his ‘fit. “Half an hour before the boys had to leave for the ceremony, my brother Nathan was opening a bottle of champagne with a knife and sliced the top of his hand open. It was uncontrollably bleeding and to make matters worse, he fainted at the sight! Marc apparently caught him just in time to save him from hitting his head. A family friend rushed him to the closest medical centre and fortunately, there were no queues. He managed to get 10 stitches and was standing at the altar – looking slightly pale – just as I was arriving.”

THE VENUE “Marc and I actually went on our first valentines date at the Quarry Amphitheatre to watch the ballet. Marc also used to be an usher there when he was in school. We think it’s a beautiful natural environment which was private for all of our guests and something we felt we couldn’t beat in Perth.”

THE THEME “Jess Butcher of Butcher Baker Stylist Creator was my inspiration. I had followed her for a while prior to our wedding and I was in awe of every wedding she did. The weddings that stood out to me were all white, clean, modern and fun!”

FAVE DETAILS “Due to the postponement there were a lot of things I completely forgot about that were organised for the day! A specific memory from the day was when the hotel staff informed us that the cars had arrived to take us to the venue and I remember being so excited! You almost forget about what is next on the agenda as a wedding goes so fast and there is so much to do in such little time! One highlight that really impressed my husband, in particular, was at the end of the night when Jess, our planner, advised us that our car had arrived and it was time to leave. We jumped in the backseat of the car and she had left little care packages for us both, which included a Maccas cheeseburger, a bottle of water and two nice big slabs of our wedding cake. What an epic end to an incredible day/night!”

THE DRESS “What an absolute dream it was to wear a Galia Lahav dress for our special day! One of my bridesmaids sent me a link to a trunk show being held at Dion for Brides (where I had already been TWICE to try and find something). I booked myself in for the third time to try on some Galia Lahav dresses they had in store for a limited time. One had been on my Pinterest board for years before Marc and I were even engaged and it was the first Galia dress I tried on. It was instant love, and the expressions on the faces of my nearest and dearest, who were with me at my appointment, helped me realise I was in ‘the one.'”

COOL CUSTOM “When picking our witnesses we put all the guests’ names in a little container and drew them out just before we signed the certificate, which was a lot of fun (my beautiful bridesmaid and best friend Georgia was selected and her reaction made another overwhelming and emotional moment of our day that I will forever cherish).”

WE’RE GLAD WE…We were very sceptical as to whether we wanted to include our two beautiful but overly excitable golden retrievers in our day. We did in the end as we found a company who really looked after them for us (First Class Pet Wedding Assistants) and we are so glad we did get them to come along – the photos are beautiful and ones we will forever cherish.”

STANDOUT VENDORSAlexandra Cohen, our photographer, as well as Nat from The Auburn Hour Film Co., our videographer, completely blew our minds in regards to the images and footage we received in the end. We are lucky to feel as though we are reliving the day over and over again every time we look at a photo or watch our video. Hollie, from the catering company Ultimo Catering & Events, was amazing in helping us come to a decision on our food and drinks menu. Kristy Wright, our celebrant, put together the most incredible ceremony we could have hoped for.”

The talented Alexandra Cohen is one of our besties and we cannot recommend her highly enough – head on over to her directory listing to get in touch. Hit up Festoon for lighting if you’re in the market for some vibey ambience, and fellas – M.J. Bale is waiting for you to call them about your dream suit.
